Seiko Velatura Yachting Timer
Launched in 2007, Seiko’s Velatura collection is designed to withstand the rigors of open ocean racing. For 2009, Seiko improves the the Velatura Yachting Timer, making it lighter, tougher, and more resistant to the elements. The case is made from titanium, covered with a new hard coating. The watch has a new screw-in crown system that ensures water resistance to 20 bar or 200 meters. A new strap combines leather and ballistic nylon to offer a blend of good looks and strength. The dial is also new, with the pre-set start times highlighted in bright yellow and blue for easier legibility. There’s also a new model for women – the Velatura women’s chronograph. It is available in stainless steel with regular or mother-of-pearl dials, both of which are set with 16 diamonds. This is a special incoming for me. My wife and I are expecting our second child and first son in about a month from now. I’m a 2nd and my son will carry on the family name and be the 3rd. I decided to start a family tradition and buy this watch to one day give to my son so he could wear and enjoy with the understanding that he will continue the tradition and pass the family name and watch to his future son.My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon at AP so the brand has special meaning to us. While at AP they mentioned they could make a custom skeleton rotor with my initials on it. I plan to do this before giving the watch to my son.

Scratch on Aqua Terra?
There is a vertical sliver that appears only when I shine a strong directional light from the sides of the watch (red circle). Based on multiple angles it almost looks like the sliver/crack is perpendicular to the face of the watch. Tried wiping it away but it is definitely staying.Any idea if it is a legit scratch? It almost seems to be an imperfection in the crystal itself.In normal light I can't even tell this crack/sliver exists. There are no signs of it on the surface.
