Introducing: The Cartier Drive, A New Men's Watch With An Eye To The Past (Details, Official Pricing & Availability)
This could be the Cartier many of us have been waiting for. In fact, earlier today, when CNN asked each HODINKEE team member to pick one watch that they really liked from the day's presentations, it was the new-shape men's watch from Cartier – the Drive – that I chose. Why? Because I've been dying to find a modern day men's Cartier that fits me, and my taste. The Calibre Chronograph was a step in the right direction, the Calibre Diver even more so, but they were still a little bulky, a little sporty for me. I mean, I own great sports watches from Rolex, Omega, and others, so why buy a Cartier sports watch? That's not what Cartier is to me, but the Drive is exactly what Cartier is to me. It's beautiful, it's refined, it's masculine, and its movement is made in-house! And the price? You're gonna like it. 1 OF 11 The Drive is aimed squarely at men, and men with taste. ...agree that you've been working very hard..So, I finally pulled the trigger on my grail piece. I've been staring at pictures of the piece for a few years...Posts, or pictures of this watch helped me to sleep for many nights.I'm so glad to be a part of the AP owners club and couldn't thank TRF /members enough for all the knowledge. Finally. ..
Patek AD Price Negotiation
I am considering buying my first PP watch- a 5196g. I have an established relationship with an AD (purchased 5 Rolex watches from them in the past 2 years). As a general rule should I expect to pay MSRP or is there room for negotiation on PP watches? (I know this particular one is easy to obtain). If so, what percentage below MSRP would be considered reasonable?
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should...
There was a thread recently proclaiming the demise of Patek because TAG came out with a cheap turbillion. Well- here you go- a 160k retail tour billion piece selling for 24k. Which means those TAGs likely will go down to a few thousand dollars on the secondary market.forums.timezone/index.php...=0#msg_7281057A Patek is a Patek for a reason. While all don't retain their value, taking an almost 140k hit on a piece is bonkers.
My new solid link bracelet is squeaky.
So I have been wearing my SD43 a lot lately, and I notice that my bracelet is squeaky. This is kind of a new thing for me as none of my other Rolex bracelet has that problem, including my sd4k which also has a solid link oyster ss bracelet. Has anyone had this problem. Any solutions that doesn't make the watch greasy such as oil / w40 etc...
