An Icon Revisited: Movado Museum Classic
Movado, which made headlines last year with its release of a new series of smartwatches, returns to the iconic watch design that put the brand on the map back in the mid-20th century. Here’s what you need to know about the Movado Museum Classic.Aficionados of horological history are aware of how Movado’s now-iconic Museum Watch and its instantly recognizable dial design came to be, but for those who are not, here’s the story in a nutshell. American industrial designer Nathan George Horwitt (1898-1990) came up with the idea of a simple black dial with no numbers or indices, and only a single gold dot at the 12 o’clock position, in 1946. The dot, according to Horwitt, was meant to symbolize the sun at high noon, an essential element in early timekeeping. The design was adopted for a watch dial in 1947 (a watch actually produced by Vacheron Constantin, then known as Vacheron & Constantin, and Jaeger-LeCoultre, with Movado beginning series production of the mode
Start Your Engines: Racing Inspired Temption Classic Chronograph Watch Available
Perhaps there is not too much classic about it save for the fact that it uses an ETA Valjoux 7750 movement. Temption is a supreme German watch maker, not a marketing agency right? So we can forgive the odd name and focus on the beautiful watch. Here is a PVD black with yellow trim model, one of the rarer versions of an already rare watch (only 200 of these yellow models were ever made). Temption produces no more than about 700 watches a year, and all owners are lucky to have them. Temption watches are classic to the extent their designs seem timeless. Focusing on Bauhaus minimalism, it isn't quite the stark emptiness you get from traditional minimalist design, but rather focuses more on pure functionality taking symmetry and aesthetics into consideration. The Valjoux 7750 movement inside this Temption Classic Chronograph is perhaps the finest function dedicated movement produced. What I mean is that it focuses on being a 12 hour chronograph, and performs that functions almost flawlessly,

Latest addition to the collection
I went to the local AD the day before yesterday to look for the Seamaster Pro that I've been wanting to add to my collection (2220.80) just to find out that it is no longer being produced as I like it (with the waves on the dial, which to me are just beautiful). While trying to cope with my disappointment, the dealer showed me the Planet Ocean Ceramic* 42mm. It was love at first sight! After negotiating for a whole day, he came acceptably close to the price that I know is usually the lowest I can get, so we sealed the deal over sms last night. This is what I brought home. Enjoy!
This is pretty sweet
Saw this on Hodinkee's Instagram account and thought y'all might enjoy it too!!
