Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends December 5, 2014
With so many new collectors coming into the market, watch auctions are a big business now. Philips recently announced a new watch department headed by Aurel Bacs, who was until very recently the International Head of Watches for Christies. However, the world of watch auctions is not all as it may seem. Yes, it may be exciting and glamorous, but there are also many potential pitfalls. We kickstart this month's roundup by highlighting some facts about watch auctions that you ought to know. And since Christmas is just around the corner, there are also no shortage of new watch reviews too. We begin with Patek Philippe's exquisite Reference 5270 perpetual calendar chronograph watch, which is one of my favorite watches from the storied brand. We also take a look at Panerai's new 1940 3 Days Automatic, which boasts of the company's first micro-rotor automatic movement; and also Tudor's Heritage Ranger, which I hear is something of a best seller at dealers worldwide. To finish off, we take a clo
Holy Grail Eterna Super KonTiki IDF Watch Available
Watch lovers each have "holy grail" watches. These are prized pieces that are rare and desirable to the watch lover. They are sometimes new watches, old watches, expensive watches, or just plain rare watches. Here is an interesting one from Eterna, in the best condition I have ever seen. This is the Eterna Super KonTiki, which is a diver's watch at heart. Eterna is a laudable brand that just made a reappearance in the US after not being officially sold in the US for some time. I am glad to see them back. Back to the Super KonTiki at issue. In the 1970s, Eterna started to supply the elite forces of the Israeli military with Eterna watches, most of them being this style of Super KonTiki. Most of those special forces were part of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) commando unit. This is the same group that was known for going on covert missions all over the world seeking out WWII war criminals, and performing missions on terrorist enemies (recall the movie Munich). Most of these highly train
ap roc rg vs. ap roc ss
hi guys, ive been wanting an AP for the longest time and im confused between these 2 models. would love to hear opinions on which one to go for.- thanks
Got the call for a 5712... but...
It's the RG version. My heart almost jumped out when I saw the ADs phone number on the call display. While the 5712R is really nice, still prefer the SS!Still nice of this AD to have offered it to me, even though I have never visited them in person and only called them in November to get on the list.
Is it just me
But the crown barrel sticking out of the Tudor BB models really bugs me....I really like their new pepsi but i just cant get past the crown. Its a real deal breaker for me.....
