Switzerland - China Free-Trade Agreement Will Greatly Disrupt Swiss Watch Sales Globally

Image Credit: AFPSeveral days ago something of great importance to the global luxury watch industry happened in Beijing. On July 6th, 2013 Switzerland and China signed a bilateral free-trade agreement. A historic move, it is the first agreement of its type between China and a European country, and the deal was motivated on the Swiss side by the interests of the watch industry. While potentially good for the Swiss watch industry, the move will likely have devastating effects on the global watch retail market over the next few years.China is the single largest importer of Swiss goods next to the European Union and the United States of America. Estimates put the trade value of bilateral trade between Switzerland and China at over $26 billion. About 32% of that is Swiss watches. Chinese consumers have a great fondness for European luxury goods, including, to a lar
Introducing: The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Self-Winding With New Caliber 5100
For serious watch enthusiasts there’s pretty much nothing more interesting than the launch of a new movement, and Vacheron Constantin has just introduced a brand new self-winding movement in an Overseas case; it’ll be offered in either stainless steel or 18k pink gold. This is an in-house movement, Vacheron caliber 5100, beating at 28,800 vph, with two mainspring barrels and a 60 hour power reserve. 1 OF 4 2 OF 43 OF 4 4 OF 4 The movement has a 22k gold weight for the automatic winding system, and the watch is water resistant to 150 meters. The pink gold model comes with a leather strap, as well as a rubber strap. Dials are in sunburst blue or silver, and the both models are certified by the Hallmark of Geneva (Geneva Seal). Video on some soon to come things....
I just stumbled across this video. I can't believe I did see it when it was released 4 months ago! I even looked for this type of content. So last year I saw a video with the CEO reference a new in-house chrono. I've been told it would be in the ROO. Here the CEO references it again and also references two up coming directions for the RO. This new chrono movement will be in those. An informative video and maybe good things to come in 2017. https://.youtube/watch?v=P_mCHDVk

OK. So first thing - the title of the thread only represents a concern, not an event. I hope nobody ever has to experience itThe pondering though, is simply...If one was fully insured, for replacement or compensation, how would it work? Its a paradoxical situation - because you can't buy one at rrp readily, if you were compensated. Presumably they won't give you the required - nearly 100% extra required to buy one from grey market... Neither can the insurance company acquire one in the constraints of the current market?!!!
