Watches NEWS
New Things at Steinhart and Archimede
In the last couple of months two of our favorite affordable German brands, Steinhart and Archimede, have both announced some new and exciting things that are very worth taking note of. Steinhart has made headway in the development of their self-labeled calibers, with the introduction of the ST. 5 automatic movement. UPDATE: Steinhart has also announced the Ocean Vintage One, which is the first watch to use the new caliber. Archimede has introduced a new dial and finish to their Outdoor's line as well as a handful of additions to their very popular bronze pilot selection.Steinhart ST. 5Several months ago Steinhart took a big step forward with the introduction of their ST. 1 caliber. Not to be confused with a manufacture movement, the ST. 1 is a heavily customized ETA Unitas 6497-1. The gorgeous and intense finishing added tons of unique character to this staple movement, and gave Steinhart some bragging rights as they began fabricating movement parts. They put the ST. 1 in their premium
Thank you Rikki!! Jocke too
I got the parts list from Jocke's SM300 project, Rikki was kind enough to put it all together for me and did a full service on the movement. I know there are some who feel this is a franken-watch and I'm not going to debate that. If you take a movement from one watch and put it in the case of another, then it really isn't original or even original with replacement parts, it's an amalgamation. So I can't really call this an NOS Seamaster, it's a wanna-be, but it's my wanna be.Didn't want to pay the watchco prices, didn't want to buy a watch I knew nothing about from ebay or watchuseek. Instead I borrowed Jocke's blue print, bought the parts from Otto Frei, and Rikki was kind enough to pull the movement from a vintage Geneva, service it and put it into a brand new 166.0234 replacement case. Here are some before picture:
Omega PO Movement Issue
Anyone ever have issues getting your omega (specifically PO) to startup after it hasn't been worn in weeks? After weeks, sometimes days, of no wear, my PO has a really hard time kicking over and starting. I may run for a few sec then stop again. Is this normal for this movement?Any advice would help? Thanks,Aaron
Alligator Band and Moisture.
Hey y'all, I just purchased a Pam 104 liar week and it comes with the alligator band as well as the rubber one. Can I get the alligator one wet? Seems like it's not a good idea but having the waterproof watch with a band that's not is a little concerning.
