1973 Speedmaster
I currently have a Rolex 14060, it is my only watch outside of a Casio G Shock. My goal is to add a Speedy, or another Rolex, to truly begin my collection. As of late, I've really been leaning toward having that next piece being from my birth year - 1973. From what I see out there, the 1973 Speedmasters are just flat out ugly - the series 378s and Mark III have very odd cases, and to me are unattractive watches. Does anyone out there have one, or know someone who does, that might be able to sway me?
Calendar Change on PO 2200.51???!
I just purchased a BNIB PO XL yesterday. At midnight I noticed that the calendar doesn't change with a quick snap like on Rolexes, APs or other brands. Last night I noticed that the calendar wheel started to advance downwards around 11:30ish just a little bit and then switched with a quick snap at midnight. Is this normal or it should've just snapped at midnight without any minor advancing? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Watches are the new currency!
Removing an aquanaut rubber strap
Its been my experience that removing an aquanaut rubber bracelet is difficult because in addition to the standard spring bar, there are two anchors perpendicular to the spring bars that fit directly into the case of the watch.Has anyone tried to remove one with a Bergeron 6825 tool? I did a search and saw that some of you used them with success on rolexes, but i think the 5167 lug width is 21 rather than 20. Since they are pliers I was thinking it might work more easily, and by that I mean help me avoid scratching the back of the lugs...I really love the rubber strap, but would like to try a leather strap from time to time without tearing up my watch
Watchmaker Experience Question...CW21... Rolex Parts Account
So I just visited two AD's in Portland today regarding a case re-brushing and re-polishing, new crystal, new crown and maybe a movement service for my 93' Explorer II.At Ben Bridge they have a Watchmaker who is CW21 certified and has a Rolex Parts Account. Everything above would be a little less than $700. That actually ain't that bad considering RSC would charge almost $600 for just the movement service AND I don't have to send it anywhere. One catch is that he said he CAN'T re-brush the bezel cause he doesn't have the special tool that RSC has....??? At Packouz they said their watchmaker can only re-brush and re-polish INCLUDING brushing the bezel for $150. So apparently his watchmaker who has no Rolex Parts Account has the special tool to re-brush my bezel?? Anything else would have to be sent to RSC. Their store also has the best rolex selection i've seen in Portland.... kinda odd they don't have a watchmaker with a rolex parts account but ben bridge who's selection and store pale
