Tissot’s Luxury Automatics Offer 80-Hour Power Reserve
Fans of affordably priced Swiss mechanicals may want to take a close look at the new Tissot Luxury Automatic COSC collection, which includes the first Swiss watches to contain the new caliber nicknamed Powermatic 80, an automatic movement with COSC chronometer certification and an 80-hour power reserve. The Powermatic 80 is the product of a collaboration between Tissot and the movement manufacturer ETA, Tissot’s sister company within the Swatch Group. To achieve its unprecedented lengthy power reserve (most comparable movements offer power reserves around 42 hours), its inventors developed a system that strongly reduces the consumption of energy. The oscillation frequency was reduced from 4 Hz to 3 Hz (21,600 vph), a high-performance synthetic material was used in the escapement to reduce friction. Also, the diameter of the barrel-arbor’s core was reduced, which enabled the mainspring to be stretched, thereby increasing the power reserve. The balance was also regulated in a
Introducing The Hublot Classic Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton, Now In 42mm (Live Pics)
Around this time last year, Hublot shocked us with a watch that, frankly, we never saw coming.? It was called the Classic Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton, and yes, the most surprising part of it was that it, unlike the rest of the Hublot collection, it was actually quite thin!? (BTW, Hublot just announced the same watch in Ceramic this week) Still, the watch was a little too large for us at 45mm, but just this week in Geneva, we saw the Fusion Extra-Thin Skeleton show up in a more wearable 42mm.? This is probably our pick of the litter from Hublot as it stands right now - it's a wearable 42mm with a nice thin case, and the Hublot caliber fairly interesting to look at.? It is also relatively affordable (we're told it should be in the mid teens).? It will come in both titanium and precious metals, and a bracelet is available - which is a nice touch.? Still, everything about it - from the architecture to the movement finishing doesn't hold a candle to our favorite modern skeletons like the AP
Review AP ROO 44 RG
I hate it and have sold it..I've had the watch for a couple weeks points:- nothing feels like this on the wrist, NOTHING! How they managed to make such an imposing watch so comfortable is nothing short of incredible. It's more comfortable that my DSSD on bracelet. -Watch is dead on accurate, +/-1 sec, matched only by my DD-Design is work of art, the bevels, shapes, edges, and finishing are perfect, the tang buckle is satisfying to lock into place and the etched AP logo is a wink to remind this subtle, yet classy tasteful excess. -Dial is legible and stays true to the classic. Anyone of these things could be said about many watches, any combination could be said about fewer, and to have all in one watch is truly to be experienced. The one intangible, is the history of AP and knowing the care they take of their customers (as many here attest to, and I'm sure if I ever need it, i won't have a worry). This is my favorite watch in the collection.
I see no one with Panda has a brown hornback.. So I photoshop'd!
It seems as though no one with Panda seems to have a brown horn back, but I was really curious as to how it will look. So, got photos from AP website and photoshop'd haha I personally think brown also goes really well with the panda...(at least in this pic...) what do you all think?
