Top 10 Watches Of Baselworld 2015
Baselworld 2015 came and went seemingly faster than previous Baselworld watch trade shows. Maybe that is because team watches-dealer met with so many brands, hour after hour, for a solid week. By our records, we formally met with about 85 watch brands in the hopes of capturing as wide a scope of what is new in the watch world as possible. That includes meetings with the big boy luxury watch makers such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Omega, TAG Heuer, Breitling, and many more that represent most of the world's high-end watch makers, as well as meetings with more mainstream producers of timepieces such as Bulova, Citizen, Seiko, Casio, and Victorinox Swiss Army. More so, we took the time to learn what smaller independent watch makers were doing to innovate and add variety to the world of not only mechanical timepieces, but also some interesting new electronic and smartwatches.Team watches-dealer at Baselworld 2015; from left to right: David Bredan, James Stacey, Ariel Adams C with Mark Carson
Why Are Watches So Expensive?
I get asked this question a lot so I figured I would simply layout a number of the reasons why watches are expensive in an article. There is a threshold issues though - and that is between "expensive" and "overpriced." Those two items are not mutually exclusive, and are different.Expensive just means that something costs a lot, but there is good reason for the price. Expensive watches and overpriced watches are very common. And unfortunately overpriced ones are too common. At the same time, you need to ask yourself, "if a brand asks a certain overpriced amount for a watch, but is still able to sell them, can you still regard the watch as being overpriced?" The answer is yes, but you still want the watch, don't you?I will now go ahead and list many (but not all) of the reasons that watches are so e
Fluted Rolex Watch Bezels: Seminal Bling
What do each of these watches have in common? Yeah, they are all Rolex watches, but there is something else here that Rolex is best known for; fluted bezels. The tooth like shaping on the area around the face of the watch has a very specific purpose.Around the time I first began to notice my appreciation for watches, I also began to notice how I did not care for Rolex watches. Since then, my tastes have developed and there is a lot of room for Rolex appreciation. Still, some of the models just don't do it for me. And most of those models feature a fluted bezel. The purpose of this article is to discuss what a fluted bezel is, why have one, and how they found a place on watches. Fluting is a technique taken from glass blowing and jewelry making. The idea is to have a toothed, corrugated, grooves, or channeled surface with highly polished surfaces. It stemmed from the concept of gem cutting, which attempts to create as many symmetrical flat surfaces as possible to refract light. The more

Happy Thanksgiving! Moderator Question?
Is the sharing of negative experiences with ADs now a prohibited area of discussion? I was also wondering if controversial threads were now subject to removal in there entirety, and if so what is the criteria for removal?I just want to understand the rules to decide how and if I should participate. I fully respect that it is the moderators forum and your rules to establish and enforce. That said given the volume of PMs I have gotten I know that I am not alone in my current state of confusion.Thank you and once again Happy Thanksgiving all!Lastly, I would hope that an honest query won't get my banned as I truly enjoy the forum.
