How Quickly A Pickpocket Can Steal Your Watch
"One of the most common things I steal are watches" says renowned pickpocket Apollo Robbins. The famed master thief talks to New Yorker writer Adam Green in a new video and article discussing his honed craft. In the video Robbins demonstrates with incredible ease and agility how he is able to deftly remove a man's watch right off his wrist without suspicion.Seeing Robbins in action is actually as frightening as it is entertaining. The now Las Vegas-based performer and consultant is considered to be one of the world's foremost experts on the art of tricks and misdirection. Pickpocketing is as much about being fast as it is about understanding psychology and how to distract people. It makes you think your watch (and other items) are ripe for the picking.[youtube youtubewatches-dealer/watch?v=UyVFG1CCDco]That may be true in the abstract, but people like Robbins are incredibly rare. Chanel J12 And Audemars Piguet Make Watch Love
Still on my ceramic watch kick I thought it necessary to mention the young spawn of what happens when a designer meets a watch manufacture. While not the first ceramic watch, Rados have been around much longer, Chanel showed the world that a ceramic watch could take a very classic look and construct it a non-metallic shiny black compound. Audemars Piguet on the other hand needs little introduction to most. Still a family owned company, but by no means small, they produced almost 28,000 luxury watches last year.Frankly speaking, Audemars Piguet does not need Chanel to enhance to look of their line, as they make some of the more beautiful watches available. Chanel probably benefits more from this relationship as it solidifies their status as a seller of serious
AP finishing question
Is there a consistently observable improvement in finishing between the SS pieces vs the PM pieces? Pictures seem to support this.
Where do AP's hold their incredible value?
Hello, Pardon the simplicity of this question...I am curious as to where these watches are generating massive monetary value. I understand materials, craftsmanship, and precision come into play, but it seems like AP's lower end models are leaps and bounds ahead of many other luxury brands as far as pricing goes. Is there something I am missing? Secondary market strength? Lucrative crafting? I appreciate all answers/references/resources & would like to state I am here to learn.- Thank youMP
