Alain Silberstein Hebraika Hebrew Calendar Watch
The Jewish new year just ended. On the Jewish/Hebrew calendar scale the year is 5770. The Gregorian calendar that is the universal standard for the US and business all over the world has the year at 2009. There are other calendars out there too that I am not familiar with that have the date as something else still. I find this concept interesting. Think back to the turn of the century when such a big deal was made about the year 2000. It did feel like a big change, as though something special would happen. Then again, if you think about it from a logical standpoint, it is just an arbitrary number, as are most calendars. It all depends on when you start counting. Most calendars "began" counting based on some religious event. So many years later, we forget to an extent that the beginning dates of these calendar systems is so arbitrary. Still, they have lots of meaning for us both actual and symbolic. So part of the point is that the Gregorian calendar is the only one out there. For religi
Locman Manages To Combine An Aviator Watch And A Dive Watch With the Marina Militare Automatic: Fashionable
Aren't you just a tad bit surprised that you haven't seem more watches like this before? People LOVE diver watches, they LOVE aviator watches: couldn't they just combine the two affections into one uber watch? Well Locman tried to do just that with the new Locman Marina Militare Automatic. There is also a chronograph version, but it is a quartz movement.Locman, being Italian of course had to give the watch an Italian name. But did they have to just take something right from Panerai? I know Marina Militare is just Italian for Navy, but most people don't know that. All I am saying is that people are gonna get a bit confused as to what this watch is all about. At least it doesn't look like a Panerai. Really, the only thing "Navy" about this watch is the emblem from a Italian Naval Academy in Livorno. Thank you Locman, because we all know your Italian "bling" watch designer heritage started in the Navy. Whatever, I happen to like emblems on stuff, especially when they don't apply to anythi
Is AP planning on making the 15305or in a 41mm case ?
I have been eyeing the 15305or as my first major watch purchase, however i was told by someone that AP is planning on making this same watch in a 41mm. Is this true ? if so when are they planning on releasing it?
New-Old Find
Yesterday I found a 14K mechanical wind Omega that I have had since about 1972. It was a gift to me from my Grandmother when she returned from a trip to Europe and Switzerland...it will need a major overhaul and some new parts so any information on who to send it to to do the work would be appreciated. Of course I want original pieces as the the crown is broken and will need to be replaced and then the watch thoroughly checked over. I will post some pictures later today but I am excited about the 'Find' as this is the second wrist watch I have found this year!!!Take it easy......Leo
New 177!
I just wanted to say thanks for all of the recommendations and insight you provided while I was trying to decide which titanium Panerai to get. I am very happy with it! It is an H serial number fresh off a service from an authorized dealer. Here is my 177!
