Montblanc e-Strap Combines Smart Wearable Device With Mechanical Watch In New Timewalker Urban Speed Collection
Prior to the Geneva watch trade show SIHH 2015, watch and luxury goods maker Montblanc has announced it is stepping into the smartwatch market �C well, at least the smart wearables market. The upcoming Montblanc Timewalker Urban Speed collection of timepieces will have an optional strap called the e-Strap (product reference 113827) �C perhaps the first smart connected wearable from an established luxury company. The e-Strap features a high-end leather strap that has a carbon fiber texture to it that Montblanc calls "Extreme Montblanc Leather" and is produced by them in Florence, Italy. At the bottom, sitting under your wrist is an electronic module made from DLC (diamond like carbon) coated steel or in gray steel. Apparently, there are a few color and size options.Why isn't Montblanc simply producing a smartwatch that combines technology with luxury watch design and materials? Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve 2010 Watch Award Winners
Last night was the watch industry's annual big award show gala event - the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG). These are our Oscars, and the 2010 winners are interesting. A few surprises, and a lot of watches that just keep winning. I was invited to the ceremony, but was unfortunately unable to stick around in Europe long enough after my last trip to go this year. Next year I will go, and might just sport a Timex!Surprises that I am happy to see? Seiko won the prize for the best Sports Watch with the Spring Drive Spacewalk Commemorative Edition watch. MB&F won for best Design & Concept Watch with their HM4 Thunderbolt. The best Men's Watch prize went to Laurent Ferrier for his Galet Classic Tourbillon Double Balance Spring watch, that I am proud to say was first introduced by me to the world on the Internet here.Really happy about everyone that won. Anyone Good with Omegas can tell me if this watch is real? My Friend...err an acquaintance of mine is selling this watch, claims it is real but I am not to sure.The things that bother me is the little green ball on 8 (the ones that glow in the dark) fell off and now sits between 10 and 11....seems odd for a $5,000 watchAlso the watch is a Speedmaster but the Bracelet reads Seamaster ProfessionalThoughts?
