Only Watch 2011 Auction Pieces Hands-On
Last night here in Los Angeles I was invited to view the traveling roadshow which is the Only Watch 2011 timepiece collection. On an arduous trip around the globe the 40 or so watches up for auction later this month in Monaco will have made only two stops in the United States before being bid on by those interested in acquiring these one-of-a-kind pieces.I began my coverage of Only Watch 2011 here where I logged each of the entrant pieces. The every-other-year event asked brands to "play the game" as they call it. Which entails brands offering totally unique watch creations donated to be bid on for charity. People starve to be different. The least likely of places you'd expect find individualism was Soviet-controlled Ukraine in the 1970s. Let me tell you about finding uniqueness among the seemingly generic, and a person that discovers and displays it.It was purely accidental that I learned about Olga Narozhna and her work. She is a one of the kind artist, hard to find if you are not looking in the right places. Olga is an artist consumed with the representation of time. Most of her work incorporates some component from a watch or clock, working or in fragmented form. The imagery of time is beautiful to Olga, I see clocks as art, and then as the time. Old K serial 2002 116520 Daytona with OEM 116500 Ceramic Bezel
This may not be for everyone but I have managed to get hold of a brand new OEM 116500 Ceramic Bezel that came off a 2016 Daytona as it was replaced with a diamond Bezel. I know the Ceramic bezels are pretty much unobtanium so jumped on it when I knew it was available. Need to get it fitted now and depending upon how it looks it could be a permanent change with the original Bezel going into the box or it may get changed back.Pic to follow
