Customize and Revitalize Your Watch With A New Strap Or Bracelet
H-R Breitling-Style Genuine Alligator Watch StrapMost people cannot do much on their own to customize the watches they own. Changing the hands, or colors are beyond our ability both in expertise and the tools we have available. This can create a problem for the creative among us who really want to make watches "our own." One effective outlet for creativity however, is placing a new bracelet or strap (band) on your watch. You must first understand that this does not work with every watch. Some watches or watch makers as a whole, have special proprietary watch strap or bracelet connections that won't allow for a universal connection, and other watches have straps that won't come off at all. However, most watches give you the ability to remove and change the strap or bracelet. If you are unsure how to do any of the following, you can always buy a fitting strap or bracelet yourself and take it to a watch repair person or store that can do the work for you cheaply. Just Returned From Omega Boutique Beverly Center
Unfortunately, did not have my phone with me but just spent some time at the Omega Boutique in Beverly Center (Los Angeles). Had a chance to view and wear the new POs...........here's some impressions. The new ceramic bezel is a washed out gray tone...........this will be strictly a matter of personal taste whether one likes it more or less than the steel bezel. New Chrono PO has an absolutely amazing dial but is very thick.........quite a difference between the new one and the current one. Again, the bezel for me is the issue.Huge price increase. The new PO Chrono is $7,900..........the regular PO is about $6,000........Omega is flirting in big boy territory and I'm not sure how that'll sit with buyers.Anyway, next time I'll take my phone with me to take some pics
Added a third friend to my two pals
My GMT and Sub Date were looking for a new friend, so the Omega Speedy Pro. joined them.
1970ish Omega Seamaster 600 Ploprof safe queen.
Chatting watches with a colleague in work today about Rolexes, and he got talking about his safe queen Omega Ploprof 600. The bracelet is completely unworn in brand new condition with not one scratch and the watch itself he reckons only a handful of times on the other strap which is incredible since its from the early 70's. He sourced it from a collector in Israel. When he recieved he had it serviced and authenticated by Omega just to be sure. Whilst it was away Omega phoned him as they wanted to buy the steel bracelet of him. They hadnt got this particular strap on show in their museum and wanted it as it was split new. He declined, saying he would only sell the whole package, wise move I think. Hes a bit of a dark horse when it comes to watches, with impeccable taste I have to say. He also has a Sub and a Sea Dweller to keep the Omega company in the safe! Anyways hes going to bring the Ploprof into work next week to show me in Person, but he emailed me a few photos of it in
Please help me understand all these codes
Hello TRF, I recently have been quite obsessed with the period correct topic. Yet the more I read, the more I'm confusing myself. I purchased a X serial TT few months ago, the warranty certificate that came with the watch has only the AD name on it but no date or owner so does not help much in dating the watch for the period correctness. I used the charts and reference library to get a rough idea of the period of each code I found:Case Serial code: X4..... (1991)Clasp Code: R11 (Nov 1993)GMT Manual: Jan 1992Your Rolex Oyster: Jan 1992Red Chrono Tag: Single crown hologram (90s - early 2000)Box code: 68.00.55 (90s)Calendar Card 1: 1994-1995Calendar Card 2: 1995-1996Dial: SWISS-T<25Originally I thought the Calendar cards were given out at services but I just learnt that they are part of the set the AD assembled during the purchase.l - but why 2? The dates of the booklets are 2 years earlier than the calendar cards, is that normal? The clasp is 2 years younger than the watch, but taking
