Zenith Teams With NBA Stars At Summer Groove ’09
Zenith was a proud sponsor of the 13th Annual Summer Groove benefit dinner held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on July 11th. Hosted by NBA stars Alonzo Mourning and Dwyane Wade, the Summer Groove is a festive five-day event that benefits Alonzo Mourning Charities and Wade's World Foundation. Actress Holly Robinson-Peete served as emcee of the benefit dinner. Attendees included Kenny Smith, Patrick Ewing, Rodney Peete and Jason Taylor. A live auction featured an 18k rose gold and steel men's Defy wristwatch donated by Zenith. All proceeds from the sale go directly to the organizations which provide services to youth and their families throughout South Florida. Now in its 13th year, the Summer Groove has raised money for Alonzo Mourning Charities to encourage the educational development of today's youth by creating programs and youth enrichment centers that promote positive change in low socioeconomic communities. It is extremely admirable that two su
Oh crap, my watch stopped running this morning...
Woke up at 6:50am for work, wat h was fine. Took it off to shower and get ready for work and went to strap it back on and it read 6:55am. I unscrewed the crown, reset the time, wound it up and screwed it in. It ran for a few secs and stopped. Pulled the crown back out, pushed it in and it started working. Flipped it over and the balance wheel was not moving and when I flipped the watch back over, it wasn't running. Oh well, definitely a bummer... I inquired about a warranty, the AP warranty expired in Feb, and it wasn't sent in for the 3rd yr of coverage. Thankfully, EastCoast Time was kind enough to offer me a 1 yr warranty on it for peace of mind.
Looky Looky! Thanks to Train-Time B01 !! !!
Thanks to Train-time or i would never have found such a great deal from an AD...I will get better shots later when I get a new lamp I ordered...I cant tell you how nice this is, when you wind the crown it feels like silk...The bracelet is so complicated it took my local guy 30 minutes to size it, very complicated but very very nice...
Contemplating Patek Repair Times for Grand Complications...
I was just amusing myself by calculating how much your grand complication watch would be out of your hands and in someone else's hands during your lifetime if the repair times were 6 months long.If you buy your grand complication at 40 years old and you live to be 80, how long will Patek have your watch instead of you during your lifetime, assuming a 6 month repair time?Depending on whether you include the last service at age 80, Patek will have your watch anywhere from 8.75 to 10 percent of your lifetime with the watch. OUCH! Now, if it takes even longer for them to service a grand complication than 6 months, say perhaps 1 year, then you are talking around 20 percent of your lifetime with the watch. My new philosophy is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I would rather pay more later if there is additional wear and repairs and have more time with my watch. I do have other pieces I can wear when a watch is being serviced, but it does seem like a huge chunk of time. Perhaps Patek could b
UK Watch Insurance
I am seeking some advice that can hopefuly be offered in this great forum. After living and working abroad for 9 years I am finally moving back to the UK. I will still be travelling around the world 3 weeks a month though so will require world wide cover. I am looking for specialist watch insurance for my collection, I have spoken to various home insurers and none will accept the watches as a listed item. Can any one recommend a good watch insurance company, or maybe one that does house hold cover, and would accept my watches. My collection on a new basis would be around the 80k GBP mark.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
