Blancpain Tribute To Fifty Fathoms Watch
2010 sees an interesting release from Blancpain. Given the plethora of "vintage" or "re-release" models, I wasn't at all surprised to see that Blancpain too had dug something out from their past to share with everyone. This is a model in the Fifty Fathoms collection called the "Tribute to Fifty Fathoms Watch." It is modeled after one of the original Fifty Fathoms watches from the 1950s. If you want to know more about the history, the go here.I don't think that Blancpain has officially released anything regarding this watch yet. They often wait a long while to do sowhich is frustrating. This is more or less the same Fifty Fathoms watch you know and love, but with a special "re-issue" dial. The original Fifty Fathoms watch has that interesting atomic label on there that actually meant to indicate that the watch was radiation free. Why? Well, luminant for a long time was radioactive. Insurance claim paid , what to buy ?
I’ve just got off the phone from my insurance company and they have told me that they’ll give me a ?14000 voucher to spend in Golsmiths , Mappin and Webb or Watches of Switzerland .I was burgled a couple of months ago and had an old DateJust stolen and an Omega Speedmaster 57.I’m happy with the insurance companies replacement valuation and to be fair it’s not the end of the world having to use their preferred supplier .I just think that I have used my local AD for a few years now and I’m oretty sure he’d be able to get hold of a lot better selection then the stores I have vouchers for.I still have no idea what I should buy for ?14000 too , I already have the Hulk , Batman , Black GMTc , 2 DateJust 41s , the new steel Yachtmaster and a rose gold Daytona. So any suggestions what I should get for that price ?
Buying First Rolex
Hi all,Im new to the forums and I am looking to buy my very first Rolex Datejust. I had a look on the official Rolex website and the price was ?8050 for a 36mm however when I go to find a retailer on the Rolex site they all have the model priced at an extra ?1500. Is this normal? Or will any official retailer sell the watch for the same price on the Rolex website?I want a brand new watch so ideally dont want to go into a jeweller who deals in second hand watches. I dont really care about getting a discount but I just dont want to have to pay another ?1500 on top of Rolexs retail price.
