Watches NEWS
Jean Daniel Nicolas Watches: The Real Daniel Roth Brand
An oddity in the watch world are watch brands who bear the names of actual living watch makers, but who no longer have anything to do with the watch makers themselves. What makes it most interesting is that there never seems to be a lot of positivity about this. Meaning that the men whose names are being use often refer to ignore what the brands are doing and never seem to happy about it. How does this occur? Well, it starts with a watch maker being able to offer an fantastic line of watches that are commercially popular, and when that watch maker can properly market himself as a charismatic "haute horology" personality. A major brand or group then is attracted to the small brand and offers to either invest in it, or purchase it. Often times when this happens, the watch maker who bears the name of the brand is often out of the picture. Or there, but not happy. Why do they do this? For money most likely. But perhaps there are other reasons as well. I am not an expert to these situations

Hey guys - I have looked at a couple of these and can't really feel comfortable buying on since I know nothing about the mechanics of the watch. The number of moving parts in a watch like this, combined with the vintage factor makes me a little nervous. Can anyone tell me about the reliability, maintenance, any other costs one should be aware of with this watch... or just any general advice.Thanks,Dan.ebay/itm/Audemars-Pig...item19df4ae8a7
School me on the Scuba models
Looking to add my first AP to my collection. I recently came across the Scuba models which appear to be the same 44mm case as the ROO Diver but the dial has numerals and there is a small colored band around the dial circumference. I think the small touch of color looks great and very unique. I have many questions though.I don't see these listed on the AP site at all. I think some are special editions?Am I correct that the case is identical to the ROO Diver? Why have I not seen one for sale or on display here on TRF? There is no shortage of rare and unique pieces here!Anything good or bad to watch out for?I like the 44mm size and I tried on a diver and loved it. I'm used to my PAM233, Deep Sea and Navitimer so no stranger to a larger timepiece. I do enjoy more unique or interesting watches, ie Hulk vs a traditional black Sub.This option may be a good match for me, what do you think? Price should be higher or lower than the Diver? Thanks!
Should this defect be a 'no deal'? Or no big deal! ?
I have been searching for this watch for months. I decided I wanted it right when Omega discontinued it. :(Problem is, the listing says 88% good, 'lume flake on the dial'.Is this going to really be a big deal being able to read the time?I was so impatient waiting to find this watch, I did buy the 36mm but I don't LOVE it. And even though I love the lume, it doesn't say bright very long and I don't look at it much. I mostly just check the time in the daylight. And I want it for daily wear and perfection and future value in this used watch isn't all that important to me. Size and comfort and the ability to read the time well is more important.Got any photos of 'lume flake'?.ebay/itm/130590211275...ht_8464wt_1034Suzy
Which Daydate is Hector Bellerin wearing here?
Most Americans probably don't know him but he is a football player for Arsenal. I see him wearing a Daydate with a dial I've never seen. Does anyone know what it is? Maybe a DD41?
