Leather and Lugs: The Making of a Herms Watch Strap
Watch straps usually play second fiddle to the watches they hold in place. Not at La Montre Herms, which takes its leather goods as seriously as it does its watchmaking. In this feature from the WatchTime archives, Gisbert Brunner explores how a fine leather watch strap is crafted. For many watch fans, connoisseurship stops at the case lugs; the watch strap, a temporary, easily replaced accompaniment, is no more worthy of study than a paper napkin. That isn't fair. Fine watch straps reward scrutiny the same way fine watch movements and cases do. Equipped with a little knowledge of leather-crafting techniques, a connoisseur can become as expert a judge of the former as of the latter.A good place to start one's study is at the world-famous, crme-de-la crme leather goods company Herms. The company makes some 120,000 straps per year, not only for its own collection of Herms-brand watches but for those of Parmigiani Fleurier as well.Hermes makes some 120,000 leather straps per year. RedSea Six Pounder & Holystone Watches
Welcome to new dive watch brand RedSea. Another Fan-diver brand. Meaning a couple of people who love watches - dive watches - decided they wanted a diver in "their image." So Red Sea was born, and if your tastes are similar to theirs, have they got a watch for you. There are two models, but they are basically the same watch with two dials. The Six Pounder is easily the most avant garde of the two. With its BRM watch style hands - you have an interesting use of borrowed aesthetic for a dive watch. The rear of the watches have a pirate style skull and crossed swords engraving that pretty much makes everything it is applied to a bit more bad ass. Do modern pirates have flags anymore? I wonder. I don't think they have ships they are super proud of anymore...The real Red sea is one of the best places in the world for diving. The high salt, very clear water is home to a ton of tropical fish. Right underneath Israel, the warm waters are a hot spot for nature lovers who dive into the waters to

SD43, D-Blue or TT Blue Sub C?
Hi All,My current collection includes the BLNR and LV Sub C. I'm contemplating adding a 3rd to round out the collection. I've narrowed my options down to the SD43, D-blue or TT Blue Sub C. However, I've had a difficult time finding any local Rolex AD that has all 3 in stock to do a thorough side by side comparison. I'm interested if any forum members have had a similar experience and your thoughts on what you might choose to have a nice balance. I appreciate all your advice and insight in advance!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
