The Britains are Coming: Burberry’s New Watch Collection
Following in the footsteps of brands like Ralph Lauren, Herm��s and Louis Vuitton, all of which have made moves to enhance the perception of so-called fashion watches, the British fashion house Burberry is releasing a new high-end wristwatch collection with Swiss movements, called the Britain. Designed by Burberry’s chief creative director Christopher Bailey, the watches evoke the look of the brand’s most famous contribution to the fashion world, the iconic Burberry trench coat. The cases have a rounded octagonal shape and a multi-faceted three-part construction; four custom-designed bolts, inspired by the buttons on the trench coat and screwed down by hand, fasten the bezel to the case middle and caseback. The casebacks have a domed design inspired by those of classical British pocketwatches and, in the models with mechanical movements, see-through exhibition casebacks of sapphire crystal. Easy Does It With The Mido Jubilee Chronometer Watch
Sometimes you want something excessive and sporty; or perhaps something stunning and formal. Other times however you really want just something simple, elegant, and useful; but that doesnt look like a drugstore Timex (shudder). For those times there is the new Mido Jubilee. A nicely designed watch without a hint of pretention, that will never let you down.Mido has a ton of history, and is now part of the Swatch Group. The brand is more popular in Asia, but can be found in the states as well. One of the brands most popular watches is the Mido Commander series, which has an incredibly 1950's look that is somewhere between classy and avant-garde.Other than the somewhat confusing name "Jubilee," this watch is nicely done. The large open face is done in a cream color with an IWC-like font for the Arabic numerals. The thin bezel adds to the elegance and appearance of size, while the star of the dial is really the crisp dagger hands. The case itself is 42mm wide with 5 bars water resistance.T

Greetings TRF,I had a little bit of fun tonight with my camera and light box and I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you some pictures of what makes my new (to me) AP work...We start off with the complete watch sans bracelet...Given that it's an old gold watch, scratches and dings are all over the place but it's okay, that's why I collect what I collect...The caseback is quite easy to take off but the popping sound it makes still reminds you that it will always keep the movement safe! And here it is! For those of you who didn't see my incoming thread, this movement is the Audemars Piguet caliber 2003, a small two hands movement developped by Jaeger-Lecoultre who has been sold to AP from 1953 to 2002 (if memory serves), they would then adjust it and finish it (if I'm not mistaken, I know the adjustments are done by them but I can't fully remember if they took care of the perlage and c?tes de Gen��ve).
