North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking Celebrates First Graduating Class
The North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking celebrated its first graduating class on April 2. The Class is comprised of students who have completed a two year program and will receive a North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking Watchmaker Certificate. The North American Institute of Swiss Watchmaking (NAIOSW) opened its doors in 2009 and is part of The Institute of Swiss Watchmaking (IOSW) which was founded by Richemont in 2008 in partnership with Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program (WOSTEP). Service Question - has anybody ever heard of this?!?!
Was wondering if I could get some input from the members. Last week I dropped my RO15300 off at the AD for a service. It's been about 7 years since the watch was last seen by AP. The watch was keeping good time but the power reserve was down to 6-10 hours, hence the service. Once I noticed the power reserve issue, the watch went straight into the safe and didn't see a wrist again. Watch has never seen water or been dropped. Was worn in rotation pretty evenly with 5 other watches. When I dropped the watch off at the AD they said that the service would run approximately $1300 CAD ($1000 USD). Sounded about right to me. Yesterday, the AD called me back and said that they had received an estimate from the APSC in Canada at $4000 CAD ($3100 USD)!!! I was told that the watch required a CTR - Complete Technical Revision. I had never heard the term before and can't even find too much about it online. I have submitted a contact request on the AP website but while I wait for a response, I though

I love my Speedy Pro BUT
--I hate winding it. I love my other manual winding watches, but I find the crown too small for my comfort. I'm thinking of flipping it for a Speedy with an auto movement. What do you guys think are the best choices? I don't care if it has a date or not. Don't care what the case back is either. Thanks for any guidance!

I heard a story.
I was told, from a very liable source, that Patek once released 10 or less 5711's with a camouflage green dial, much like the one on the Aquanaut that made it's way to the Sothebys auction in Geneva this summer. Apparently these green dial 5711's were only given to selected clients named directly by Mr. Philippe Stern. I wonder if anyone has seen it or heard a similar story ?
