Vacheron Constantin SIHH 2010 Preview: Thin is In
Vacheron Constantin is known for producing some of the world’s thinnest timepieces, and for 2010 they are introducing two new wristwatches in the Historiques collection that confirm the brand’s expertise in the arena of the ultra-thin. The Historique Ultra-fine 1955 measures only 4.1mm thick, making it the world’s thinnest mechanical hand-wound watch. The Historique Ultra-fine 1968 is a square, ultra-thin automatic. The 36mm 1955 is presented in 4N 18k pink gold. Though an homage to the past, the 1955 is a modern design with 30 meter water resistance, a sapphire display back, and a titanium casing circle to improve the rigidity of this wisp for the wrist. Beneath the opaline silver-colored gold dial lies caliber 1003, which at a mere 1.64mm is the world’s thinnest. To celebrate its 55th anniversary in 2010, the movement has been reborn with 18k gold mainplate and bridges. The 21.1mm-diameter movement consists of 117 parts and beats at 18,000 vph. Breaking News: Watch Worn By Steve Jobs In Iconic 1984 Photo Of Apple Founder With First Mac, Just Sold At Auction
We've just found out that a quartz Seiko watch from the 1980s, that was owned and worn by Steve Jobs, just sold at auction for $42,500 – and we'd bet cash money that's the highest price anyone has ever paid for a simple quartz Seiko reference 6431-6030. The sale was part of an auction that included several other pieces of Steve Jobs memorabilia, authenticated by his long-time house manager, Mr. Mark Sheff (a letter of authenticity is also included). 1 OF 4 ADVERTISEMENT The watch itself is pretty much as unremarkable as a watch can get: an inexpensive quartz Seiko that Jobs, if the condition of the strap is any indication, bought and then wore daily, probably without giving it a lot of thought. However, the thing that elevates it to historic treasure status is that it's the watch Jobs was wearing in 1984 when one of the most iconic photographs of Apple's co-founder was taken: that of him with the very first Macintosh

My Breit
So Miss Whatshername usually wears my Breit. She seems to like it and I think it looks sexy as hell on her. On the other hand, she says I look like Indiana Jones when I wear it, which can't be bad, right? Hell, she even looks like Karen Allen. But occasionally I steal it back. After a couple of repairs from Breitling themselves, 4 years on, and going strong (which means I just hexed it!).Cheers (and yes Doc, it's the one I bought from you).
Omega case, Heuer dial and Lemania movement I'm so confused...
Greetings to the Omega experts...I just came into possession of this Marlboro World Championship racing two register chronograph with unknown manufacturer or any discoverable history. The watch is quite striking and appears to be in unworn overall condition. The more I research this watch the more confused I get. What I think I know thus far is that the watch houses a Lemania 5012 movement which is a derivative of the 5100 without the 24 hour sub dial, has a classic Heuer dial configuration and color and is housed in a case consistent with the very large and bulky Omega stainless steel casesfrom the mid 1970's.What I know for sure is that this two register chronograph is massive in size and weight and commands a very impressive wrist presence (wrist shot attached) and overall high quality look, feel and functionality as it keeps excellent time and the chrono functions work quite well.Lastly, I have researched the relationship between Marlboro Racing (F1) and Swiss watches and Heuer come
