Christie’s 2010 Watch Sales Highest Ever at $91 Million
Christie's wrapped up a record-breaking year for fine timepieces, realizing $91.2 million in total sales C the highest annual total ever for the the global auction house. Patek Philippe dominated the results, capturing each of the year’s top 10 positions for wristwatch sales. In all, five Pateks sold for more than $1 million apiece. Look inside for images of the top sellers, and a list of Christie’s Top 10 for 2010. Christie’s achieved more world records in 2010 than any other auction house, and every sale saw a sell-through rate of more than 90 percent by value. The top watch of the year was a unique Patek Philippe ref. 1527 perpetual calendar chronograph manufactured in 1943 that achieved a record $5.7 million at Christie's Geneva sale.A Patek Philippe ref. 2523 “world time” manufactured in 1953 finished in second position. Omega Appeal
What's the Omega appeal for you? I, for one, love it's association with NASA. Generally it's designs are conservative as well. I also love its history, specifically it's golden years.
Which 5396 looks better?
I was considering to go with 5146G cream dial when the AD showed me several 5396 series.a) 5396G-001 white baton b) 5396G-014 slate breguet numbers c) 5396R-014 rose gold with blue dialI haven't seen 5396R-014 rose gold with blue dial yet. I like breguet numbers but white version looks cleaner.Curious to know what others think - out of the above three, which version is good and which is no-no?Searched the forum but haven't seen much discussion on 5396R-014.
First Panerai PAM 1312
Hi fellas,Finally pulled the trigger on my first Panerai, PAM 1312. I know some do not like the blue seconds hand but it doesn't really stand out that much in person. The slightly slimmer case because of the updated P.9010 movement was what I liked most since I have relatively small wrists but still wanted the 44mm case size.I love the crown guard which is so unique to Panerai.Glad to have joined the club. Cheers!
Steel Daytona
Does anyone know what the actual waiting list size is for the steel Daytona ?
