Omega Crawl With watches-dealer Was Fun With Watches Across Time
A few days before Christmas 2014, watches-dealer invited a group of Los Angeles watch lovers to visit the Beverly Center Omega watch boutique and then to Jackmond, a special store in Los Angeles started by Jack Khorsandi and dedicated to displaying, servicing, collecting, buying, and selling vintage Omega timepieces. Then, after some deep watch appreciation, whiskey (thanks to Jack), and lots of conversation, we headed nearby for a private dinner. One of the most interesting things we saw at the Omega boutique was an early presentation of their new "antimagnetic test." With the debut and increasing proliferation of Master Co-Axial with its anti-magnetic movement, Omega realizes that many of its customers aren't quite sure why magnetism is so harmful to mechanical watch movements, and just how easily even the smallest magnets can effect a mechanical watch movement. The test showed how small, common everyday magnets could not only stop a traditional watch, but permanently (and dramaticall
Hands-On: The New Patek Philippe Nautilus In Rose Gold Reference 5711R (Live Pics, Pricing, Availability)
Patek Philippe's showing at Baselworld 2015 was, in my belief, its strongest in years. We saw them show absolutely stunning updates to the 5170G (black dial, oversized breguet, leaf hands make a world of difference) and 5270 (now available in rose, and no more chin on existing g models). We also saw perhaps the best watch Patek has made since the 5970P in the 5370P – a platinum split seconds chronograph with a black enamel dial. OK, they also brought out the least Patek watch they've ever made in the 5524G but we've already covered that craziness here. One piece from Basel that we haven't talked about yet and is just now hitting authorized dealers is the new Nautilus 5711 in rose gold. 1 OF 6 The 5711 in solid rose gold is a watch that I bet many of you probably thought already existed – and it did, just without a gold bracelet. And if you know anything about Genta designs, these watches are simply incomplete if not on a bracelet. So, a 5711 in
Bring a Loupe: Some Quick Picks From A Patek 3670A To A Rolex Submariner Reference 6538 With Whole K
Please forgive the abbreviated Bring A Loupe this week. It was a busy and amazing auction weekend in Geneva and I am off to celebrate a family member’s graduation from law school – congratulations, Jeff! Here are a few quick picks for this week including a Patek 3670A and a Rolex Submariner 6538 with original box, papers, and more. Clebar Chronograph 1 OF 10 This Clebar chronograph features a beautiful panda dial and a great Valjoux 72 movement. It is believed to be a “Poor Man’s Heuer” made under contract by Heuer for Clebar. 2 OF 10 A trusted seller in Washington, D.C. has listed the watch for $2,450. Patek Philippe Reference 3670A 3 OF 10 If this Patek looks familiar to you, it may be that you saw it in Talking Watches with Jean-Claude Biver. The reference 3670A was a limited edition of 16 watches that are incredible in that inside them are vintage caliber 13-130 movements that were unused and foun

Took The Plunge
Well after only being a Rolex and Panerai guy, I bought an Omega today. I purchased the Alaska Project Speedy Pro and it should be here on Tuesday. I really needed a white dial in my collection and I think this piece fits the bill. Pics to follow......
