IN THE SHOP: Twelve New Vintage Watches For Sale, Including An Amazing Tudor 7032 With Box & Pap
It's that time of the week again, everyone! Yes, the HODINKEE Shop has been re-stocked with a dozen new vintage finds curated by the team here at HODINKEE. And as we said when we launched this initiative a few weeks back, what we've found for you are nothing if not honest, original examples of some truly special watches. Let's get into it. A 1940s Mono-Rattrapante Bovet Chronograph 1 OF 15 We'll start with one of the most fascinating watches of the lot – this Bovet Mono-Rattrapante. First of all, Bovet of the 1940s has very little, if anything, to do with the Bovet of today. Back then they were making elegant watches with classic designs and in the case of this wonderful Mono-Rattrapante, downright fascinating concepts. We all know what a rattrapante, or split-seconds, is, and all also know it is one of the holy grails of horology – a complication reserved for highest echelons of watchmaking, in particular back then! Christmas Comes Early!
My wife and I had to do a little holiday shopping this weekend so we braved the mall on Saturday. I expected a twenty minute drive around the parking lot but as I pulled around the main entrance, someone backed out of the first spot and we got A-List Hollywood parking. Shoulda known something good was about to happen. So we're wandering around picking up gifts and swing by the local Rolex/Omega dealer, which we do probably twice a month. Let me preface this part by saying I've been keeping my eye out for White Dial Omega GMT which was discontinued awhile back..it's one of my absolute favorites. I've been checking Bernard's website every week but he never seems to get one. Well the dealer just received one from their main office that morning.as a closeout. MSRP was $2395 and the lady quoted an extra 20% off for that day. As I'm thinking about snatching it up for a little less than $2k, she's hitting buttons on the calculator and says So as a closeout it's 40% off and
Explorer 1 - 114270 / tips and tricks
I got my wife and I explorer 2s (white and black face)several years ago for our anniversary. She loves hers, but it's a little big on her arm. She surprised me with a new Explorer 1 for Christmas this year, and i was thinking about returning the favor with a 114270 (36 mm) for our anniversary later this year. So I was wondering if folks had an idea of which one/ where to find it/ what to watch out for, etc. I would likely have it serviced if it had not been recently serviced, just so it is ready to go when I give it to her. Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
WG DD40 olive dial non roman
I've set my sights for a white gold day date. I really like the olive dial that is now available on the DD40. I've only ever seen the olive dial with the roman markers, it's there another option available? I prefer the stick dial. Can this combo be had?
