Photo Gallery: Touring the Luxury Booths of SIHH 2014
The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), which took place last week in Geneva, is probably the world’s most exclusive international watch fair, with an invitation-only guest list. As we did last year, WatchTime wanted to give our readers and diehard watch fans a peek inside those hallowed halls of horology, courtesy of these exclusive photos by our own Mike Disher. Click below to begin the tour… A watchmaker demonstrates his skills at Audemars PiguetCartier, which introduced the most new products, fittingly had the largest booth.IWC designed its new, aquatic-themed booth to coincide with the release of its revamped Aquatimer line.A huge replica of its new Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar Terraluna took center stage at A. New Seamaster!!! WOOHOO!
Well folks. My wonderful wife gave me my dream watch for my Birthday. An Omega Seamaster 2221.80. Have wanted one of these since 1995. (I realize that was a different model [2541.80]but this is my Bond watch I have coveted for so long) Very excited to finally join the Omega Ranks. Beautiful!Taken with Phone camera. Will have to set up a photo shoot tomorrow.
Broke the seal 5164
Stopped by the local AD today and he made me break the seal on a new 5164. I wish I could say I took it home...maybe next time.
Joined the Club - PAM233
Always love the PAM but finally pulled the trigger last week. PAM233, K Series, GREEN DOT! Couldn't be happier and already on the slippery slope of acquiring differnet straps for everyday of the week! (That's what you're supposed to do right?????)Enough of the words and a few quick pics!P.S. A VERY STRONG endorsement of European Watch Company. They were super responsive and helpful, shipped the watch out overnight the same day I wired funds. If you're in the market for any higher end watch, definitely go check them out!
Visit to Japan - Nakano Broadway
I've just come home from a week long holiday to Japan; it was my first time there. Spent most of my days in Tokyo, with a 2d1n trip to Hakone-Gotemba. Naturally, I've read a lot about Jack Road and watch hunting in Tokyo (a lot of it from here on TRF), so I planned a full day of just browsing for watches. I found out much later, that Jack Road is actually within a sort of mall or shopping complex. About 3 storeys high and inside, a whole chunk of shops that sells preowned bags, watches, jewelry... basically luxury goods. There are also magazine, comic and toy stores; it can get a little confusing. Since I read that Jack Road was on the third floor, that's where I started. I think two of the major stores on the third floor are Jack Road and Kame-Kichi. There's also a Betty Road which caters to watches for women. Once you take the escalator that goes directly from ground floor (1F) to third floor (3F), turn right and you'll see Jack Road. Kame-Kichi is somewhere along the left of the esc
