Richard Mille Introduces Americas-Only RM 030 Limited Edition
Richard Mille, which has had success with other limited-edition watches made exclusively for the Americas including models in its RM 011, RM 016 and RM 028 lines has unveiled another, called the RM 030 Americas. The watch follows up the previous Americas-only RM 030 Black Out and Black Rose limited editions. The watch, of which only 30 pieces will be made, and on sale exclusively in Richard Mille boutiques and authorized retailers in North and South America, is distinguished by its bright orange upper flange, crown protector and hands, which contrast with the black nanotube carbon case. On the dial, the numerals and date aperture are white. The RM 030's automatic movement is Richard Mille's Caliber RMAR1, introduced in the original, unlimited RM 030 model in 2011, whose signature feature is an innovative declutchable rotor. In this system, the winding barrel automatically disconnects from the rotor's winding mechanism at the moment that the mainspring is fully wound. The declutchin
MB&F And Alain Silberstein HM2.2 "Black Box" Watch
Sometimes I wait a bit after news "breaks" to discuss a topic. That was the case with MB&F's new HM (horological machine) 2.2 watch. The timepiece is a further extension of the quite pricey luxury HM2 watch. MB&F has given the watch several version done in combos of metals (gold, titanium...), ceramic, and of course colors and styles. I've worn a few of them, and admit they are sorta cool. One of the biggest criticisms of that watch is that it was unwearable. True, the the wide box is tough to wear on your wrist, but it isn't exactly "unwearable" (like the DeWitt WX-1). From a practical standpoint MB&F watches are wearable art. Few people would actually wear and HM1, HM2, or HM3 watch all the time, but I for one quite appreciate them. Max Busser of the brand is a marketing master as well. He really knows how to get people excited about his watches, and items such as this limited edition of 8 pieces HM2.2 watch are a great was of doing that. For me, this collaboration with wa
Louis Moinet Jules Verne Instrument 1 & 2 Watches With Moon Rocks
Would these watches make Jules Verne proud? Possibly. The unique chronograph watches from recent luxury watch maker Louis Moinet proves that the steampunk genre is alive and well. How do I know? Probably because these watches epitomize the ideal and I love it. Influenced by Jules Verne's classic 1865 novel "From the Earth to the Moon" (plot: big gun shoots American and French man to the Moon), the watch even houses an actual piece of rock from the moon (found on Earth). There are two models of the Jules Verne watch. First is the Instrument 1 "From The Earth To The Moon" watch, and second is the Instrument 2 "Around The Moon" watch. The different between the two is that the Instrument 1 has a chronograch with a second timezone, and the Instrument 2 has a rattrapane chronograph (split timer). The watches feature two "firsts."?? Most obvious, is the unique chronograph pusher system that uses fold out levers to operate the chronograph. This helps prevent starting and stopping it accidentall

What hasnt been your experience with imperfections?
The friend that got me into Rolexes touted the absolute perfection of the product. Now, years hence, I have generally had good experiences with all my watches. Today, I discovered on my new SubC that the Rolex stamp on the inside of the clasp is very obviously heavy on one side of the logo and light on the other half. What have your experiences been with quality control?
