Two Pateks Top $1 Million At Christie’s Hong Kong Sale
A Patek Philippe Ref. 2499R, 3rd Series, brought $1,210,466 at Christie’s May 30 Hong Kong sale. The perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phases in pink gold was manufactured in 1971. A Skymoon tourbillon Ref. 5002P with twelve complications manufactured in 2008 brought $1,164,008. Both sales were within pre-sale estimates. Other notable wristwatch sales included an F.P. Journe Centigraphe Sport No. 1, which sold to a Japanese collector for $465,170. A Harry Winston Opus 6 by Greubel Forsey realized $434,430. All prices include the buyer’s premium. Breaking News: Harry Winston Is Acquired By The Swatch Group (Plus Some Things To Consider)
While there have been rumors that famed NY-based jeweler and watchmaker Harry Winston was in "sell-mode" for a while, we don't think anyone expected this.? In news coming from both side of the equation today, 100% of the Harry Winston company has been acquired by none other than the owner of Omega, Breguet, Hamilton, and like a zillion other watch brands, the Swatch Group.This marks a decided change for Winston, who was for a long time completely independent and privately held, and most recently, publicly traded but essentially independent.? To be fully acquired by a large conglomerate will mean a lot of changes to Winston, and we'll be anxious to see how this plays out.Here are some things to consider in this deal, from our perspective:- Harry Winston is considered the only true "high-luxury" brand remaining in America.? Baselworld 2018 - Rolex Designers Please Read!
ok, I know this has been discussed at length on this forum and the cake is already baked at Rolex, but Rolex designers need to make this watch...44mm submariner with the 3235 movement with a black and dark blue bezel with the wider glidelock bracelet from the SD43. All stainless with a flatter case back so the watch sits low. The watch does not need a helium escape valve nor the thicker crystal, hence making the watch thinner. No one dives in these watches past 100 feet.If they made this watch with 3 different bezel/face color combos it would be a huge hit. All black, dark green bezel with black face, and blue/black bezel with black face. C'mon Rolex...make this watch! ....And the msrp should be under $9k.
