Special PP AD events
I know there are special events throughout the year sponsored by an AD or by Patek with Thierry Stern in attendance. Besides special exhibits like the Munich exhibition or the Grand Complications exhibition, etc, what are these events like? Is it just cocktail and dinner? I received an invite to an event next month which I am sure many members here in the US also received. I am trying to see if it is worth my time since they got buried with snow the past few days and who knows what it'll be like next month with the crazy winter weather.
Submariner vs GMT BLNR
Buying in the next few days. My AD surprisingly has a BLNR in stock and getting the submariner I ordered a few days later. I'm leaning toward the sub because of the glide lock. But also curious how the GMT stacks up with water. Is has the trip lock crown? What pressure is it rated to? What other thoughts do you guys have? Any info appreciated. The 50th anv. diver gang
We're fortunate we're alive right at the 50th anv. for many of the diver watches. So here's my 50th anv. diver collection so far:- Rolex 50th Anv. Submariner (2005 F-serial)- Rolex 50th Anv. Red Sea Dweller- Seiko 50th Anv. Gold Tuna Emperior- Doxa 50th Anv Limited Ed. Sub300I'm a big fan of the Omega Seamaster too but I can't pinpoint what's would be their 50th anv Seamaster.
Tall guy and 36mm
I'm 6'3 tall, about 240 lbs with a 7 and a smidge inch wrist. My daily wear watch for the past 7 years has been a Seiko 6309. I want to buy my first Rolex to be my 24/7 everyday watch. I like the look of the older 36mm Explorers (like the 5500), but I've had a couple people say they think it would look to small on me. I'm a police officer and would wear the watch at work. I don't like the garish giant watch look, but I'm used to the size of the Seiko. I'd likely end up putting the Rolex on a rubber strap at some point (my preference). Thoughts?
