Nubeo Black Mamba Watch Sheds Its Skin: Shows Off Complex Construction
A typically complex watch case consists of about 5-10 parts. Sometimes you'll run into something with more than that, but it is rare. A watch case can't be too complex because it needs to hold up for longer periods of time and retain structural integrity, while at the same time ensuring water and dust resistance. So you can imagine that the pieces need to all fit together particularly well. Tolerances in manufacturing must be minute so that the many pieces fit together just right. Well, the Nubeo Black Mamba has 131 case components making it the most complex watch case every made. Plus, it still enjoys water resistance of up to 100 meters. Nice job.Let's explore a bit of the complex construction. Words on this will bore, but the images will impress. The case is made of mostly ceramic and titanium with bits of rubber and other materials. Some versions of this limited edition watch will feature various types of sapphire gems. The not so basic, "basic" model is show with the numeral appli
Seamaster 2254.50 or the current 212.30
I have decided to get an Omega Seamaster to use as my daily watch. And for several weeks I have been bouncing back between the 2254 and the current SMPc model - blue dial.I have been offered a 2254 from 2002 and a lovely preowned 212.30 from 2013.Both imo are great looking watches and fit my wrist nicely.Buying both is not an option, as I don't tend to buy two of the same style watches. Here's what I think, but please forgive my amateurish approach and lack of knowledge:2254ProsNice looking dialLove the sword handsBeautifully slim caseGreat lumeETA movement - so more flexibility when it comes to be repaired.ConsOlder watch and movement212.30ProsCo-Axial movementCeramic bezelnice looking dialCurrent model, made from the latest designs and technologyConsSits slightly higher on the wristThe gloss finish on the dialColour combination of the dateThere are most likely to be a few other pros and cons for either watch which I don't know about. This would be my only dive watch and its a possibili
Event Horizon Speedmaster
So I was watching the Sam Neil film Event Horizon and in the opening scene an Omega Speedmaster is seen floating past the camera aboard the Event Horizon ship itself. The movie is set in 2047 so this just goes to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that there will be Speedmasters in 40 years.Best regards,Joe
Polar and black Explorer II in London AD window
Saw these yesterday in AD window in London. Quite rare nowadays.
Christmas Shopping Done! Mrs gets a Rolex. Also plenty of dealer stock, list inside.
Stopped by my local AD this morning to get my wife's earrings repaired. I always browse when I can, and I have been on hunt for a watch for my wife. She has finally jumped on the Rolex bandwagon after much work. She fancied the smaller 26mm size, which has been fairly elusive if not impossible to source. She requested a 26mm TT with silver face and roman numeral dial. Been looking for about a year, the grey dealers weren't able to locate one. I was afraid my next option would be eBay, but was a bit apprehensive. However today, when browsing the AD had a 26mm TT silver face with roman numerals in the case that was just put out this week. It's pre-owned but never sized. They have also ran it through for a complete tune up with their in-house rolex watchmaker. Price was right so I grabbed it. Christmas shopping done! Will have pics on the 25th. Also they have plenty of stock for the mens. just on the top of my head. 2 Rolex Deep Sea (D-Blue, Black)1 Rolex Seadweller 2-3 Rolex Submariner1
