Watches NEWS
beamon RIP
Some of you old timers will remember beamon who was an early and active member of this and other forums. Roger and I shared interests beyond watches and over the years became good friends. A couple of years ago he and his wife moved from Tucson to South Carolina and we talked many times of finally meeting face-to-face. We communicated regularly via email and phone so last week when I realized that I had not heard from Roger in a while, I gave him a call. His wife answered and told me that Roger was not doing well and was under hospice care. So Saturday my wife and I drove up for the meeting we had talked about for so long. We also got to meet Roger's wife, daughter and son in law. Fortunately Roger was alert enough to participate in our conversations. It was a wonderful time together. Last evening I received a text from Roger's daughter that Roger had just died. He died as he lived, gracefully and peacefully.
5131 Questions
Has anyone heard if they will stop making this reference due to the introduction of the 5230 and if they eventually come out with a platinum version do you guys think it will be a 5131P or 5231P? After reading about the 5230 it was brought to my attention that some of the city names have been changed on this piece and Moscow relocated which makes me wonder if PP would still continue to make the 5131 as is, modify the city ring, or discontinue. Below is from watchcollectinglifestyle (Mods, I hope it is OK that I referenced a website)Some time zones have meanwhile been assigned different city names, for instance Dubai instead of Riyadh or Brisbane instead of Noumea, to mention only two. Formerly, Moscow was located in the UTC+4 zone, but the Russian capital has now shifted one hour closer to Western Europe, relocating to UTC+3. From time to time, such changes make it necessary to modify the place names on the city scales of World Time watches. This is why Patek Philippe is discontinuin
Any Love for the 5711 ?
Hi Guys,I have been trying to see one in the flesh for more than 6 months. Been to NY and even there, not a single 5711 in stock. Tried the 5980, 5726 but no 5711.Any reason for this ? Can you please share your ownership experience as well. Thanks everyone.

Daytona 116500LN - black or white dial?
Hi All,My AD called me yesterday that after the long wait the SS Daytona that I ordered long time ago is now in store. I am in such a fortunate situation that I have a possibility to choose between the white and black dial version. I went in today to try both on but honestly speaking I could not make up my mind either way. I love the black rims around the sub dials on the white version but also like the homogen black colour of the dial & bezel on the black version. Also as I wear the SD43 and a YMII on a daily basis I am used to bigger watches, so whichever of the 2 appears bigger is also a factor for me to consider.Any thoughts to help me decide are much appreciated. Thanks, Adam
