De Bethune DB25 Special Edition for Only Watch
What is a watch, if not a machine to measure the flow of time? A kind of speed counter for the flux of an energy of which we know almost nothing, except that it exists and that it is carrying us somewhere. Find complete details, along with stunning wallpaper, for this De Bethune machine inside. What is absolute speed, if not that of light, that beyond which there is no more time, nor space, nor perhaps even energy? The logical conclusion is that any approach to watchmaking is in fact a reflection on infinity as we are able to admire it without actually comprehending it: it is an emotion born of the dizzying sensation stemming from a reality that transcends our grasp. And this is where a deliberately chosen aesthetic option must express a philosophical choice. With this DB25 specially created for Only Watch, De Bethune has chosen light as the medium from which to sculpt its conception of the world, of space, and of time. Initial Report from Seiko: Tokyo Office Undamaged by Earthquake
Seiko has issued a statement thanking those who have expressed concern, and providing an update on the status of the company and its employees in the wake of the massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan Friday afternoon local time. Dear Friend of Seiko,We would like to thank the many people who have contacted us, expressing concern over the effects of Friday's earthquake. Our offices in Tokyo were undamaged and no one at Seiko Watch Corporation was directly affected. It is, however, too early to say that everyone in the group companies of Seiko is safe, and all we can do is hope for the best and offer our sympathy and thoughts to the many people in Japan who have suffered in the last hours and days. With kind regards,Seiko Watch Corporation
I did the inevitable, burned a hole in my pocket again...
I did it again... Wasn't really interested in this piece at first due to the heft, but after seeing it on the wrist of a certain AP CEO here in HK and him taking it off for me to try again, I did the inevitable....Every time, I tell myself to stop buying, it just doesn't happen...I must say though, it's growing on me every second... The tantalum and rose gold is a great match this way. Not over blingy!
Is this a Breitling??
Can anyone identify this Breitling? Thank you to anyone who can respond.
New versus Pre-owned
I thought I would try to summarise the key benefits and drawbacks of buying a new Patek (new from an AD) versus pre-owned. Obviously only in relation to references that are part of the current range.Benefits:-Price - a significant saving can be made by buying a pre-owned Patek from a private seller or unofficial dealer. This could be in excess of 30%.Availability - for those willing to pay a premium they can find references that are unavailable from AD's. The 5131 J or G is an example. Flexibility - it may be easier to part exchange or trade watches as part of a deal with an unofficial dealer.Service - there are many happy customers on this site that have purchased from one of the well known resellers who have delivered an exceptional level of customer service. DrawbacksNot being the first owner and missing our on the whole AD experience of opening the sealed travel box etc. In addition if the watch has already been registered then your name will not appear on the Patek ownership reg
