Kobold Polar Surveyor Duo On eBay ending Nov-21-07 09:41:48 PST: Two Gold Watches To Lust For
You don't often see watches like this in pairs, but up on eBay for sale are a couple of 18k gold Kobold Polar Surveyor watches. One is all gold with the lovely metallic blue Kobold face, and other other is gold with a alligator strap and a black face. The bands are obviously interchangeable. Kobold watches are rare in the watch world for being an American company. Based out of Philadelphia, they use mostly swiss components are designed to be very rugged and functional. Knowing their upmarket appeal, Kobold does offer some of its pieces in gold as these two are.A Kobold watch is meant to be fully functional and reliable and deep depths, and very cold temperatures. Their base Valjoux 7750 movements have been modified to include a AM/PM indication. The reason for this is that when you are exploring the arctic poles, the day and nights can be very long (months on end). When this occurs, you do not have the luxury of the day/night phase to know what time it is. Thus the AM/PM indicator prov
Transocean Chrono vs Zenith Striking 10th
So having tried both watches I'm torn. Both have great history, quality fit and finish In house movements etc. Both watches have good dimensions and love how thin they are for chronos.Initially I might have to give the nod to Zenith for 2 reasons:The incredible chrono movement which is what Zenith does best and the fact that it's less recognized in the states. I see quite a few Breitlings and very few Zeniths.Love to hear what you all think. All the best

First time buyer
I'd like your thoughts on my experience (so far). Let me start by saying I do not consider myself a collector and have never before today spent over $500 on a watch.I really hope I'm not getting screwed. I just purchased my first Rolex today. A Oyster Perpetual 36mm with a Red Grape dial. After doing a lot of research online for sellers with positive ratings I came across a company called Avi & Co New York. They are a seller on Crono24 with great reviews and have excellent reviews across Yelp. They also have a physical store in New York.As I wait for my watch to be shipped and delivered I am having some buyers remorse anxiety of buying from an unauthorized dealer. The watch sales retail from and authorized dealer for $5,400.00 but Avi & Co sold it for $4,399.00 for credit card or $4,269.00 tax free with shipping included (Brand New, never worn, manufacturer plastic still attached. The seller contacted me today and confirmed he received my wire payment and got my shipping inform
Rolex sports models that wear thinner?
So my only Rolex pieces in my collection currently are a 1675 and a 1625. For a while now I have been thinking the 16570 would make a perfect versatile sports watch for me, smaller than the too big for my wrist (~6) 216570 but new enough to wear as an actual sports watch (most of my collection are vintage and on leather so require care and an avoidance of water). At a xmas party this past weekend I ran into a fella with a 16570 on the wrist, he also probably had a sub 6.5 wrist and I noticed the watch wore huge on his wrist, the bezel and crystal seemed to dome up dramatically similar to the look I found when trying on the Milgauss. I didn't ask to try it on and still haven't had one on my wrist but it made me think that perhaps I should be seeking a slimmer model.I find my 1675 and 1625 do not have an obtrusive thickness, with some reading around it sounds like their thickness is ~11-11.5. Which I wouldn't think would be a noticeable difference from the supposed 12.2mm thickness of the
