Bring a Loupe: A Selection Of Elegant Watches From Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek, And Rolex
This week's Bring A Loupe will explore a new side of horology, featuring thin and elegant watches that would go so well with a smoking jacket. Expect some great pieces from the most renowned manufactures at tackling slimness issues – Jaeger-LeCoultre and Piaget of course, but also Rolex, with the forgotten Veriflat. For the chrono addicts, get ready for an outstanding Heuer Autavia and a very full set Rolex Daytona. This is your Bring A Loupe for September 25, 2015. Foreword: the case size of the selected watches might appear tiny on paper, however you should consider that a flat profile always increases the perceived dimensions on the wrist, as illustrated by Jack's review of the 36 mm Vacheron Constantin Ultra Fine 1955 here. A Surprisingly Slim Rolex, The Veriflat 1 OF 11 With all the iconic tool watches you know of, Rolex would probably not be the first manufacture to spring to mind when considering a thin dressy watch. Do you know where I can find the pillow for the new Bakelite box?
Maybe somebody here can help me. I've lost the black pillow for the newer bigger bakelite boxes. I have been trying to look for this for a while and La Swiss doesn't sell just the pillow. I'm in Canada so local is preferred but taking any information.Any information would be greatly appreciated.thanks,Jok
Tried out the Moonwatch today. First impression
I have no experience with the Moonwatch but thought I share my first impression. Is the vintage look that I love about this watch! Not a fan of the metal band. Nato band would look awesome for the causal days.I am a bit shock at the price tag! I close to Subc price~Overall, I have to admit, it is not as exciting as trying out a new Rolex. My view only, other may not agree. I will look for a used moonwatch over new one I think. :)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
8500 Movement - anyone have one yet?
Do you notice any appreciable difference? I'd like the speedmaster with the moonphase, I recently saw one at the Rodeo Drive boutique but it was the old movement. I may as well wait for the new 8500.Wondering if there are any out there in TRF land?
GMT Pepsi Authentication
Hi, Looking to buy my first Rolex, And really want a 10yr or older GMT Master 2 pepsi bezel, But as it seems to cost a premium for a GMT with said Bezel I'm wondering if theres any way to identify an original from its serial etc. As I'm sure there have been people who've replaced the bezel insert for a Blue/Red one. Any help is kindly appreciated Regards Vince.
