Another Record Year for COSC in 2008
After setting records in 2006 and 2007, the Contr?le officiel suisse des chronomtres (COSC) once again issued a record number of attestations in 2008 with 1,599,588, an increase of +8.6% over the 2007 results. The number of timepieces submitted rose by 10.6% to 1,676,515. Of these, 1,536,950 were awarded to mechanical movements and 62,638 went to quartz calibers, with the large majority of the latter (56,224) going to Breitling products. In terms of manufacturers, there was no change in the leading trio which has stayed the same in recent years: Rolex received 769,850 certificates, followed by Omega with 377,514 and Breitling with 234,021.The remaining manufacturers to receive at least 1000 certificates are:Panerai (46,446)TAG Heuer (35,429)Chopard (22,977)Mido (10,870)Ulysse Nardin (10,249)Enicar (8,861)Ebel (8,823)Corum (8,801)Chanel (8,407)Bulgari (8,067)Rado (5,807)Ball Watch (4,312)Tissot (3,767)Titoni (3,513)Movado (3,446)Carl F. speedy pro clasp advice
Hi, I have a speedy pro with an OEM leather strap, but I could not bring myself to purchase the $300 clasp. I bought a knockoff on eBay and while it works I am prepared to spend the coin on the OEM if it is superior. The hinge on the knockoff is a bit wobbly when open and just feels a bit cheap.... 'cause it was...So is the OEM 94521813 clasp worth it????

Can a Speedmaster Pro get along with other Rolexs, or will there be fighting and bickering?
Pricing on 5711/1r
I haven't seen too many incomings for the Basel15 5711/1r, but was curious about discount offerings on it. If a AD is offering at 15% discount, would that be considered a good deal. I don't think a trusted seller could even beat that price, no?
can a regulation drift?
Hi - I have had my three black bays between about 5 and 8 months. The black on bracelet has been consistent at about -1.5 from the beginning. The red on leather moves around a bit....was -1.5, now hovers around zero....some days plus a second or two and sometimes minus. Although when I take the red one off the winder, it seems to gain couple of seconds in a couple of hours...this has happened twice and I guess it is just an idiosyncrasy of the watch...it then stabilises very quickly and gains nothing pretty much for the next 24 hours. The bronze which is the last one I bought was the best of the three and running at less than -1s/d for ages and recently has moved up to -2s/day and in the last 24 hours I would say has lost nearly three seconds. At what point should I send it in? I think they are meant to be COSC -4/+6 plus an extra 2s either side for Tudor - so -2/+4. I'd feel a bit stupid for sending back a watch that is running 3s slow per day! But at 3k, I would expect it to
