18 Entrants Will Compete in the 2011 International Chronometry Contest
Fourteen watchmaking companies and four schools will participate in the 2011 International Chronometry Contest. The winners will be announced on October 20 at Chateau des Monts C Horological Museum of Le Locle. Find complete details and a list of entrants inside. The first officially-sanctioned timekeeping competition in 37 years was held in 2009 when 16 timepieces were entered in a single category, each competing against the others. For 2011, the competition has been modified with the contestants divided into three groups: traditional movements, tourbillons, and watchmaking schools.During the competition, the timepieces are subjected to a variety of tests that are based on international standards, and that are much more rigorous than the well-known Official Swiss Control of Chronometers (COSC) tests. Measurements will be carried out in officially-certified laboratories in Besan?on, Bienne and Le Locle. In addition to timekeeping accuracy measurements, the watches will undergo magnetis
Big Blue
After Basel last year there were only two watches that really piqued my interest.SS Skydweller Blue and the Omega Big Blue.I registered my interest with AD's in both and waited. With the AD I am on the list with for the Skdweller still not having had one in, I made an executive desicion to get the Big Blue when the Omega AD gave me the call. I've had it for a couple of weeks now and couldn't be more pleased. The blue is darker than it comes up in pictures, and seems to change with the light.Really comfortable on the wrist and the build quality is outstanding.Accuracy is superb and the GMT function allows me to keep track of my youngest daughter who is travelling in India at the moment. It's a pain that India is one of those countries with an half hour time zone thingy!!Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk
What to do... Sell... Keep. I can't decide. What are thoughts?
I have a mid-size Omega Seamaster Professional that I bought for myself brand new back in 1997. Loved the watch and it served me well to this day. I've always had is serviced at Swatch Canada Group in Toronto, 3 times and the last visit I had the works done to it and the lume is nice and bright again. Anyhow, now that I have my two Rolex watches that I enjoy very much I no longer wear the Seamaster and it is just sitting in the safe. I keep swinging back and forth as to whether or not I should sell it. Sometimes I think I should hold onto it and hope that the used price for Omega watches go up. Or just bite the bullet and sell at close to market value. What are your advices? Thanks
5205R, 5396R or 5146R?
I am a new comer for AC in Patek. I am studying these 3 models recently, and found they are almost the same watch (not sure I should say so, but...). I guess many people who will only buy one out of there 3 different variations. What's the pros and cons? Is it just a Mather of personal preference? Or which one is more collectable?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rolex price increase??
Hi guys,I was diving in the new Rolex catalog, exited to see the new GMT master ii Pepsi on oyster steel and jubilee, and noted that some models has new prices, for example the Hulk (not discontinued apparently) is at $9,750 now, instead of $9,050. Maybe I'm being redundant here but this is what I noticed. What do you guys think?
