Gearing Up for SIHH 2013: IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Racer
News of new watch launches at next month’s SIHH watch fair in Geneva continues to trickle into WatchTime’s offices, the latest from IWC Schaffhausen. Last year, IWC focused on expanding and revamping its Pilot’s Watch collection. It appears that in 2013, it will be the brand’s sporty Ingenieur collection in the spotlight, starting with the new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer. The reason for the revamping and expanding of the Ingenieur which IWC introduced in the 1950s and whose modern, industrial look was heavily influenced by the designs of Grald Genta in the 1970s is the brand’s new partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One racing team. IWC and Mercedes-Benz have had a relationship since 2004, but 2013 will mark the first year that they will join forces in the Formula One racing arena. IWC CEO Georges Kern saw the new era as the perfect time to update the Ingenieur collection, incorporating materials used regularly in motorsports, such as ca
Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelGraph
Carl F. Bucherer’s Patravi TravelGraph combines two of the most useful and popular functions: a chronograph and GMT. The brand has invested over a million dollars to bring this watch to life. All displays are controlled by the automatic caliber 1901 movement, developed by Bucherer, together with Swiss specialists well known for creating mechanical watch complications. The 1901 is no ordinary caliber. Find specs, pricing and wallpaper inside. The automatic caliber 1901 is unique to the Patravi TravelGraph, and it offers some sophisticated features. The second time zone (GMT) is displayed by the red hand and the bezel, complete with 24-hour markings. Current local time is shown by the conventional hour hand, which can be quickly set forwards or backwards without affecting timekeeping because the movement continues to run when the quick setting mechanism is used. The date also changes forward and back, corresponding to the hour hand. The Patravi TravelGraph is also well designed on t
Vintage Non-Chronos?
If you search the Fleab for Breitling vintage, you'll get a lot of hits for watches that are not chronographs. Knowing that the chronograph has been Breitling's calling card for the company's entire history, and knowing what the chrono/non-chrono split is in the current line, I have to wonder: are all of those real? Did Breitling really make that many non-chronos 50 years ago? Or is someone painting a name on a Brand X dial?
Strap options for BLNR
I just purchased my first Rolex. It's an awesome time piece and the one issue I have with it is the polished center links. I'm not terribly rough on my watches but I know it will get scratches. That being said, I think I want to look at replacing the bracelet for summer beach vacations/cruising. I'd imagine sand could do a number on the polish on those center links.I have looked into both RubberB and Everest. I am just curious I as to what other options people are going with. Any nato or zulus on your Batman?? And lastly, how difficult is the swap?? Any specific tools needed? My AD offered to do the swap for me but I would hate to continue bringining it their every couple of weeks throughout the summer. On a side note, he offered to polish the links once a year free of charge as well.
Rolex Datejust II
Hi guys.I recently bought a Rolex Datejust II off the market. I have had a few Rolexes in the past and am pretty sure its a genuine model. I just have one doubt, the number on the machine inside is marked #3156.As per my knowledge #3156 is for the Day Datejust II models. And #3136 should be for the Datejust II.Can anyone please tell me if this is true, or did they make some exception and made Datejust II with the #3156 machine.Thank you for the help guys.Cheers.
