SIHH: JeanRichard Shows Two New Bressels and the Highlands Sand Sports Watch
At SIHH JeanRichard is introducing three new men’s models: the Bressel Homage “Daniel” is inspired by a Daniel JeanRichard pocket watch created in 1710. The Bressel 1665 Small Hour and Minute offers a distinctive time display, and the sporty Highlands “Sand” reinterprets the original Highlands from the mid-1990s. All three are powered by in-house JeanRichard movements. The Bressel Homage “Daniel” is dedicated to Daniel JeanRichard, the pioneer and “father” of watchmaking in the Neuchatel Mountains, and is a celebration of one of his greatest creations, to date the only known silver pocket watch of its time – one created in 1710. The new model has an understated look. The pink gold case measures a classic 38mm in diameter. It houses a curved, white lacquered dial, echoing the enamel used on the pocket watch. The Roman numerals are painted in black and the leaf-shaped hands are blued. The date display is offset in red.Behind the
John Mayer On Watches: Why I Bought The Patek Philippe 5396G Limited Edition For Tiffany & Co., By John Mayer
It's an interesting time for Patek Philippe from a collector's standpoint. The company has stopped production of some of its greatest complications (the 3970, 5970, 5070, 5004, etc.), they’ve raised their prices substantially (in what I believe to be an attempt to sideline the secondary market), and a new generation of Stern has taken over as president. I’ve been somewhat skeptical about the direction of the brand based on some of the latest design updates, but after cutting the seal on the new ref. 5396G for Tiffany & Co., I know that the brand still cares about collectors. A lot.In fact, I think this watch is a message to collectors everywhere that Patek Philippe will continue to create instant classics. And this 5396 limited edition is one of them. 2 OF 7 The 5396G is an annual calendar made in a limited edition of 100 pieces to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the opening of the Patek Philippe boutique inside the Fifth Avenue Tiffany &a
New AP lover!
Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. My love for watches started when I was 18 and for Xmas my father bought me a Omega Seamaster. The watch didn't leave my hand for the next 10 years. The watch was bulletproof and I have yet to own a better watch. Then of course I moved on to Rolex and Panerai. The last month I wanted to up grade my collection so I purchased a AP ROO Diver and RO SS, PP 5711 Nautilus and Breguet Marine. In my collection I have to say the Diver and IWC arethe most fun to wear. The 15400 beats the 5711 by beauty in a long shot, the best looking watch I ever owned.
Dream achieved - Complicated Patek Philippe in Gold
Hello All,Thank you so much for the kind words and advice. After much thought and consideration I have purchased my new watch (new to me that is as it came from a vintage watch dealer). It is the fantastic Patek Philippe 5035 in Yellow Gold.I just could not pass up an Annual Calendar for a first Patek. I am so proud to have a complicated piece on my wrist.I also love the 24 hour display and the Romans sealed the deal. The watch was built around the 315 movement - not just a conversion to fashion like the 5146 which is simply a 5036 with added size (for no good reason that I can see). 37mm for a conservative dress watch is a great size!If I wanted a huge watch I would have bought an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Off-shore!I think the term traditional size fits the 37mm size. Infact the current model 5140 Perpetual Calendar is around this size also.I have seen articles on the net stating the 5035 has great investment potential. In fact a 5035 sold for more money than a 3940 in New York last
Birthday Present(s) to Myself.
Happy Wednesday, Folks! For my birthday this year, I decided to get myself the Tag Heuer Autavia and this Date Sub that I've coveted ever since I was in college. But I'm not done. I'm looking to get a No-Date Sub and put either a Nato strap or a leather Everest band on it. This year is a milestone so I needed to give myself a proper reward.Have you gifted yourself with a Rolex? If not, you should.
