Hublot Joins Team Alinghi for 2010 America’s Cup Defense
Hublot and Alinghi announced yesterday that Hublot has committed to support Alinghi’s campaign in the 33rd America's Cup. Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver (photo right) joined Alinghi team president Ernesto Bertarelli at Alinghi’s training base in Genoa, Italy for the announcement. Alinghi will defend against the challenger, Larry Ellison’s BMW Oracle yacht, in the waters off Ras al-Khaimah, UAE, beginning on February 8, 2010. Hublot has always had close links with the world of yachting – through its name, which means ‘porthole’ in French, through its partnerships with prestigious sailing clubs such as Yacht Club Monaco and Real Club Nautico de Palma, and through sponsorship deals with numerous races and yachts. Jean-Claude Biver is thrilled with the new partnership: “We had the chance to admire the yacht as it left the yard, and when it first took to the water on Lake Geneva. Christopher Ward C9 Moonphase Review
It's hard to believe sometimes that Christopher Ward has only been around for twelve years. In a little over a decade the brand has managed to establish itself firmly in the enthusiast conscience, at a very competitive price point, and consistently produces attractive and impressively featured watches. Recently, however, the brand has become more ambitious than ever, producing new in-house movements and complications like this one- the Christopher Ward C9 Moonphase. The C9 Moonphase is C Ward's first moonphase watch, and despite sharing many elements with the rest of the C9 line it represents a bold design departure from the mostly uniform world of moonphases. Equipped with the impressive calibre JJ04, a customized ETA 2836-2 with an in-house moon phase module, the C9 Moonphase is an intriguing proposition on paper at $1780, but is it just as impressive in the flesh?Christopher Ward C9 Moonphase ReviewCase: 316L Stainless SteelMovement: JJ04Dial: Midnight BlueLume: N/ALens: Sapphire w/
Anyone for vintage Omega pie?
My vintage Omega collection:
Speedmaster Co-Axial Broad Arrow 1957
I was offered a LNIB Broad Arrow. It looks stunning but wanna do some homework before I take the plunge ... is there any problem with the movement? Is the movement an in-house owned by Omega? Looking for a daily watch at the same time want something special. Any input on this watch greatly appreciated and sorry for the noob question ... new to Omega.
Finally got my blue Seamaster 300 M GMT!
I looked high and low at GMT's...really a tough decision. I finally settled on either a Sinn, Rolex GMTII or the blue 300M GMT. After seeing the 300M in person I quickly ruled out the others. The fact that I have a Sea-Dweller and wanted something a little less pricey and different looking made me go with the Omega over the GMTII. Here's a few pix...enjoy everyone! It's stunning in person!
