Introducing the Baume & Mercier Clifton Retrograde Date Automatic (Live Pics, Details, & Pricing)
Inspired by 1950s references, Baume & Mercier first introduced the Clifton Collection at SIHH 2013. This year, the brand builds on the introductory time-only pieces by introducing new complications, including the handsome?Clifton chronograph?we recently showed you. Of the new releases, there is one in particular that succeeds in balancing wearability, practicality, and just a touch of something different: the Clifton Retrograde Date Automaticpared to the standard method for displaying the date C via an aperture C the retrograde date function is more difficult to seamlessly incorporate into the design of a dial. This might be why many manufactures avoid the complication altogether, though when done properly it can be exceptional. It's a feature we tend to see more on ultra high end watches, like the Ma?tre du Temps Chapter One Transparence, but here Baume & Mercier gives us a retrograde date at a more affordable price point. 2 OF 14 A traditional watch dial allows you to t

It's a "manjewel"
When I start talking about my 5402 with folks - even watch guys (I've never actually met anyone in the flesh who could appreciate it) - I see a lot of smirks, a lot of eye rolling and a lot of impatient looks as I struggle for words.I usually end up somewhere between, It changes to way you look at watches,to, it completely recalibrates your conception of aesthetics. It's because the 5402 goes so far beyond what I knew a watch, indeed any tangible object, save one*, was capable of. What's the exception? I'll get there in a second...The complexity and detail of the case design. The richness of the dial. The perfection of the execution of the finish. You can keep throwing words out there, and they help, certainly, but they don't suffice. Indeed, even the best photographs - and I have seen some incredible ones - help one tremendously to understand the 5402 but even they don't quite suffice. The beauty of the 5402 cannot quite be captured in a photograph.Only when you hold it in your hands,
Geneva Seal Vs. Patek Seal?
Just Curious if anyone cares?Personally, I would pay a small premium to get the Geneve seal models from a specific reference if both were available throughout the references lifespan. I prefer the earlier 5711 over the newer ones, and I purchased an older 5146 because I wanted the Geneva seal. I know it's a minor point, but I just prefer the Geneva seal heritage, sort of like COSC certification.
Green Sub Sunburst dial
Hi All, Wonder if you can help?Has the dial on the 116610LV changed in a way that the blue dial has over the years, or has it always been the same? Many thanks
