Once in a lifetime... my journey to acquire my grail (lots of pics)
There are a few moments in our lives where we know is very special. This weekend was one of mine.As some of you know from my recent threads, I’ve been a Panerai guy for the last 10 years. A couple years ago, I started looking at APs mainly due to a fellow car guy - s14roller. It was a lot more expensive than what I wanted to spend so I tabled that for a few years (but I have still browsed the AP forums periodically). After a long year at work, I decided to treat myself with my first AP. I didn’t know much of AP at all (and am still learning now) so I looked at a lot of pics and bugged a LOT of people with questions (once again, mainly Jack - s14roller, peter - wx watches, Sam – 911cab, etc). Looked at Panda, new panda, the Beast, Ti-grays theme, and RG rubberclad… all were nice watches but none of them “spoke to me.”Until… I saw the RB2Ti. Speedmaster Chronograph
I've just been to a local AD looking at Speedmasters and Seamasters.A very helpful assistant came along and we got talking.After some mooching around he offered me a Speedmaster Chronograph (which I presume wasn't a Professional as it wasn't mentioned on the dial) for the discounted (10%) price of ��1890.It's 38mm I believe (or maybe 40mm ?) and has a tachymetre and on the case back it says that it's ok to 100m/330ft.It has the 2500 (Valjoux 7750) movement and yes, it is a bit noisy I thought for a first try that wasn't too bad a price. Could somebody enlighten me further?Also what differences are there between that and the 300m/600m ones? (Apart from the depth!)Am I missing anything major? I'm new to Omega's.They had the newer ceramic Seamasters which are a little bit chunky. Hello AllI just joined the forum and am looking to replace my GMT I (SS and Gold, Black bezel, Jubilee bracelet) that I had bought used in 1991. I was mugged in December while in Buenos Aires on business and am looking to replace with the Master II, model 116713 (SS and Gold, Black bezel). I'm seeing prices all over the place on the web, both new and pre-owned. My insurance company could have replaced it for $10,591 but Rolex required the serial number, which I didn't know and had never written down. So I'm on the hunt for a replacement. Any thoughts as to new vs used? Best price? Reputable dealers/sellers? Any info would be appreciated.ThanksShawn
