41st Anniversary of Apollo 11 - Let's see 'em
Today is the 41st anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11. Let's see those Pre-Moon Speedies! Here is my 1966 Ref. 105-012, the same watch that a friend told me he wore on both his Gemini and Apollo missions:
Question about switching from deployant / deployment clasp to tang buckle
I have persevered with the deployant / deployment clasp on my 5140G for a month or so, have had an extra hole put in the strap by PP and have even had PP reverse the strap for me, which has been touted on here as a solution to uncomfortable depolyants. But I have now decided that I and the deployant are never going to be friends, and that the time has come for a change. Someone has generously gifted me a genuine PP WG tang buckle, so I now need to sort out a strap. I think that at the PP Salon they told me, but only in passing, that one can't simply put a tang buckle on a deployant strap. But maybe that is just something they do not do as a matter of principle, or maybe it requires some work done on the strap which they do not undertake. Hence my main question: has anyone managed to recycle a PP deployant strap for use with a tang buckle ?As a further question, how much should I expect to pay at the PP Salon for a real Alligator with large rectangular scales in glossy black strap
Whos thinking slimmer lugs?
This has been talked about, not sure if it’s been debated or rationalized...two different ways to think.....1. With recent Sub and GMT incomings, trickling in inventories, etc.... it seems there’s no change coming, in case or lug dimensions on the Sub or GMT. 2. On the other hand, there’s the recent developments or redesigns from bigger, to more refined, or “classic” proportions....ex: DJ 41, DD 40, SD4K, SD43, possible discontinuation of BLRO, etc....WHAT’S EVERYONE’S THOUGHTS ON WHAT WE’LL SEE, soon?I know...”only Rolex knows”, but just looking at some contradictory factors, as stated above, what is this fine collection of experts opinion? Just some Sunday thought provoking...
