The Value Proposition: The Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch, A Fine Step Toward Truly American Watchmaking
The Weiss Watch Company has an ambitious goal: to design, manufacture, and assemble a mechanical watch not just within U.S. borders, but within the tighter parameters of Los Angeles County. Can an area known more for media moguls and perpetually flawless weather support a mechanical wristwatch supply chain? The answer is yes (with the exception of movement production – for now). The Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch is the first offering from this young start-up, and while it isn’t a full-on grand slam, there are a number of characteristics that make this a compelling option for anyone looking for a solid, casual-wear watch under $1,000. 2 OF 10 The company’s namesake founder Cameron Weiss knows a good bit about watchmaking. After becoming a WOSTEP Certified Watchmaker, he trained at both Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin, unarguably two of the most respected watch manufactures in the world. In addition, Weiss is a certified CNC programmer, affordin
Speedmaster Auto
Morning all, Quick question, Im really wanting to get into my first Speedmaster, I love my Seamaster but I really want an Automatic movement. Whats the reference number that I'm looking for? Either a 40mm or 42mm case with an Automatic movement. Thanks
15202 Jumbo vs 5167? Pics + poll
Hey guys. Back with a Dilemma of course.Let me just point out that my purchase for either of these watches will be in Stainless Steel. The RG was the only one avail for both, but gives you guys an idea.Which is your pick?I think the two make a killer combo, however that is not in the budget. I have already decided that I prefer the 15202 over the 5711 as my genta design watch. The 5167 IMO is just a completely different watch. Very cool, very subtle, and a cool casual look.I can only buy one, and the next purchase will have to wait quite a long time as I will be tied with some other things.Between these two pieces. Which would you pick? Thanks guys
My Wife Said What????
I have been Patek shopping trying on different models without my wife. Last Monday we had to take my son to Cincinnati so he could fly back to Florida. We live in Indy and with my dad's death, we were only able to get him a flight back on Allegiant with 4 hours notice. I found the address of a Patek dealer and wanted to try on different models while my wife was shopping at Ikea and other stores. She said she would go with me to my surprise. She has tolerated my watch hobby so far and I was concerned when she asked prices of various pieces. Roll ahead to last night after church, she said she wanted to get me my first Patek for Christmas! Enough said........
Recommendations needed in Jamaica
I'm in Montego Bay until Sunday. Are there any good watch shops to check out while I'm here? Doesn't matter what brands. Thought maybe I'd buy something since it's the first time the wife & I have left the country without the kiddos!!! Lol
