But for those who have wanted more variations on the Dark Side of the Moon, look no further: in 2015, your time has come. Here are four new versions of the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon that Omega presented at Baselworld.All four of the new Speedmasters bear certain crucial similarities. They’re all certified chronometers. They all have a bicompax chronograph layout: the chronograph hours and minutes are in the 3-o’clock subdial, running seconds are at 9 o’clock and a date window is at 6. They all bear a tachymeter scale around the bezel. There are nonreflective sapphire crystals on the front and back.Under the dial, all have Omega Co-Axial caliber 9300: an automatic, 4-Hz movement that runs in 54 jewels. AP Millenary Carbon One Tourbillon Chronograph
Audemars Piguet’s new Millenary Carbon One is a technical wonder. The case is forged carbon, an ultra-light material developed by AP. The middle section of the case is created by placing a set of threaded carbon filaments inside a mold. The wire, measuring one millimeter in diameter, is itself composed of several thousand 7-micron carbon fibers held together by a resin wire. Placed end to end, these filaments are equivalent to 22.7 meters of carbon wire and 102.2 km of carbon fibers. The mold is then compressed at high temperature at pressures of over 300 kilos per square centimeter. This process results in a material composed of 76% carbon and 24% polyamide. The hardness of 626 Vickers can be compared with the 420 Vickers score for alacrite, another highly resistant material. The case middle and lugs are made all of a piece. Limited Edition Sinn 856 UTC SG In PVD Tegimented Steel Available Now
Like most German things, this limited edition (only 150 pieces) Sinn watch has a complicated and confused name, but that has no effect on it being a very cool watch. Sinn took an 856 UTC watch with PVD coated Tegimented steel (specially made steel that is extremely hard and scratch resistant), and made a couple of special modifications. It would first be good to know that Sinn watches are the preferred timepiece for most of Germany's hardcore police enforcement, military, and other "hardcore" agencies. This version is made in honor of the German Bundeskriminalamt - Sicherungsgruppe (SG), which is the Security Group of the German Federal Bureau of Investigation, also called BKA). How important to you is the green hang tag?
For those of you who are interested in full sets, how important is the green hang tag? You come across the perfect watch. It has the warranty papers. The outer and inner box. All the manuals are present. The Red/green chronometer tag is included. But wait... no green tag...I'd say half the full sets I've purchased used over the years came without the green tag. I've heard some AD's keep these although I've never had one keep it when I've bought new. So would you pass on a watch because of a missing green tag?
