Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight Extraordinary Series Watches For 2010
One can always expect beautiful artistic watch creations from Van Cleef & Arpels each year at SIHH. Not that any of the watches are affordable to the lay person. For examples these models are all in platinum. They are highly primed for visual appreciation. Of the 2010's new collections from Van Cleef & Arpels is the Midnight Extraordinary Series. I don't know exactly how models there are. but here are three from the main California Landscapes collection, and two below from the Midnight Extraordinary Japanese Lacquer series.I am most interested in the California Landscapes series, likely because I live in California. It is true that not all the scenes are at night (in contrast tot he "midnight" part of the name), but each are interesting feats of talent. For those who know me and follow my posts you know that I incredibly love my Patek 5712, well I still love it a lot, but I can honestly say that I love as much or even a little bit more my ceramic diver, I have been in Ukraine for 1 month, in Odessa, not where the civil war is raging, and took both of them, and clearly I wear much more my diver, maybe 70/30, never imagined that I would love this watch so much, but it's a truly awesome piece, and I've always wanted a ceramic watch, almost bought a Pam 335 a few years ago but went with a 233 dot dial instead, as much as I liked the Pam before it is in no way in the same league as the AP IMO.So thanks to all the enablers, Benlee in particular who posted many pics of his ceramic diver, and all the others who posted as well pics of this model, as much as I prefer the Nautilus models to the RO models, well except for the RG pieces, love the RG Jumbo and RG skeleton, but clearly prefer the PP SS models to the AP RO SS models, I incredibly lov

Calatrava rescued from the safe + strap question
This Patek 5196R has been in the safe for a long time but finally made it out into the light of day today. Thought I'd snap a couple pics before putting it back in the dungeon. Don't hear too much about Calatravas around here. This one is about 5 years old & has the silver dial, but I understand that they recently switched to a white dial.I used to wear my Patek all the time, now thanks to all the enablers on TRF I'm hooked on steel sports watches. Perhaps the white 5711 one day...Anyway, I'm on a strap kick thanks to my fellow Paneristi & am now thinking about a new strap for this one. Anybody have any suggestions? Would I pretty much want to stick with the Patek OEM straps or might there be some other good options? Is there another color or material strap that might look good with rose gold?Thanks!
