Celebrating The 100th Anniversary Of The First Chronometer Certified Wristwatch By Rolex
As proudly stated on their dials, all Rolex timepieces manufactured today are?certified chronometers, meaning that every single one of them has been?rigorously tested for?timekeeping accuracy. With that in mind, we could C and perhaps we do C take the accuracy of a Rolex watch for granted, so now let's take a look back in time and discover how Rolex have created?the first chronometer certificate wristwatch ever, tested and awarded?by the incredibly demanding Kew Observatory exactly 100?years ago. Those intrigued by the provenly superior accuracy of timepieces will surely?be familiar with COSC (Contr?le Officiel Suisse des Chronomtres), the official Swiss chronometer testing institute that has been issuing certificates since 1973. The history of chronometer certification goes back hundreds of years however,?as these?clocks and pocket watches?of exceptional quality and timekeeping performance?actually served as navigation instruments?on the decks of ships sailing across the seas. Hands-On: Cellini Rolex Prince: The Rolex Nobody Knows (But You Should)
The Rolex Prince is not only not terribly well known –even to Rolex aficionados –it’s almost shockingly unknown; in the days we had ours in for review, quite a lot of pretty hard-core watch people saw it, and it was mistaken for . . . well, mistaken for just about everything but a Rolex. This is a kind of peculiar circumstance, especially for as immutable-tradition-is-a-virtue bunch as Rolex fans are supposed to be, because the Prince, in fact, goes back one hell of a lot further than any other existing Rolex model –the first Prince watches were made by Rolex all the way back in 1928, which is not that far off from the founding of the company in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf. 1 OF 7 The Prince was, and is, a rectangular wristwatch, and the two first models –the famous 971 and 1343 watches –both used a rectangular movement made by Aegler, which supplied both Rolex and Gruen at the time. The movements used for the Prince watches were rectangul

Hey guys so my 39mm Panda Dial ROC was my first nice watch and I have always thought of it as a keeper. However, service is due next year and come to think of it, I have rarely worn the watch at all since my collection has grown a lot in the past 2-3 years due to the fact that the single fold clasp is extremely uncomfortable for my wrist. I'm considering replacing it with one of the three choices listed above and would like to hear thoughts on which you all prefer. The replacement has to be a Royal Oak for me because it is what got me interested in horology in the first place. Also versatility is not a concern for me as this will be in rotation with a other watches. Thanks in advance!
AP 15400 Question
Hi Guys,I just bought the silver dial AP RO 15400 from Switzerland, although at a higher price compared to other countries including mine, but since its not available in my local AD decided to get it while im on vacation there.I noticed after inspecting it at home, it has a few hairline scratches at the caseback, I thought that since its in Switzerland, the handling/shipping could minimized these kinds of things.I know over time It will accumulate scratches from daily wear, but kind of annoyed that other people scratched it first. aside from these, the watch is in great shape, keeps good time +3secs.I wonder any of you guys experience getting a brandnew watch with these kinds of issues, or should I be worried that the watch was mishandled..Thanks!
