MIDO Baroncelli Heritage
Mido C Baroncelli Heritage The Spanish verb medir means "to measure" and, once conjugated in the first person singular, forms yo mido (I measure). How fitting for a watch brand whose main function isto measure time! Mido was founded in 1918 by watchmaker Gorges Schaeren and 40 years ago it launched a classic collection with a very exotic name: Baroncelli, joined by the Baroncelli Heritage in 2016.The steel or PVD-coated rose gold case comes in two sizes (33mm or 39mm) with a smooth gadroon-shape bezel. It houses the self-winding ETA-based Mido 1192 calibre which provides a 42-hour power reserve and fuels the time and date functions. The delicately grained ivory dial bears three hands: two gold dauphine-shape hour and minute hands and a blue seconds hand. The date appears in a display at 3.Price: 990 CHF (steel) C 1,090 CHF (rose gold PVD)By Sharmila Bertin
Hot From The Oven!
Walk into the AD's shop over the weekend and came out with this.
Celestial vs Planetarium
The Celestial, currently available as 6102P and 6102R, and the previously discontinued 5102G, is a watch like no other in the Patek Philippe line up. It shows the evening sky visible from Geneva, along with the orbit of the moon and the stars, including Sirius the brightest star system visible from earth. The 6102 adds the date function and is available in 44mm diameter. On the wrist, the watch is not too overbearing in size.A respected TRF member and Patek mega-collector, Conkers (Roger), describes and shares his experience with the 5102G in the following thread:.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=492432I recently was able to try on another poetic watch from the jewelry company, Van Cleef & Arpels. Christian Van der Klaauw helped design the planetarium for VCA and is a marvel to look at also very wearable at 44mm. The RG and WG versions are both very nice. The Midnight in Paris watch in WG has a very different look from the Celestial and does not look as nice aesthetically in my ey
5980/10R .. Anyone know what's the story?
Howdy.. I just came across a nautilus on Instagram that I have never seen before and wondering are those 100% factory? I presume they are. Looks pretty exotic and those diamond bezel sure are scratch proof now Anyone know anything about this particular model? HAGW ahead! .. jen
OP 39 Blue- am I too old?
With your help, opinions, etc, I visited my local Rolex dealer yesterday and got a 214270 Explorer. I had the short hand model for a short while, and am really pleased with this watch. They had a used, very clean OP 39 in Blue. I had a Grape last year and liked it, for whatever reason I parted with it. I now feel though that the OP 39s may be too youngish for me. I am 66. What do you guys think, and if you have one and endorse it, if you feel like it, give your age, or if you think there is a particular demographic for this watch. I know it comes down to personal taste... and I kind of feel like I may finally arrived at a watch that I truly love in the 214270 Explore, maybe best to quit while ahead... thank you!
