The world of in-house, self-winding chronograph movements started out small in 1969 with the Breitling/Heuer/Buren Caliber 11, the Zenith El Primero, and the Seiko caliber 6139 and it coincided with the beginning of the quartz era, which did not exactly provide a lush financial environment for horological innovation (as we all know the Seiko caliber 6139 is long gone, as is the caliber 11 and if it weren’t for the fact that Rolex started using the El Primero in the Daytona in 1988, that might not be around either. Remember General Patton's five-minute-repeating, split-second chronograph pocket watch that we covered here back in September? Well, it went up for auction today at Heritage Auctions and sold for a whopping $137,000.The watch was originally purchased for $350 (negotiated down from $600) by General Patton's father, George Patton II as a gift for his son back in 1927. 1 OF 2 The watch was originally estimated for $25,000 to 35,000 and hammered at $137,000, which is no surprise due to the provenance and level of complication. Hey guysIm in the market for a new millenary 4101 RG, Ive seen these guys on chrono24 and...instagram. They are based in Geneva and seem to have amazing prices. However I can't find much information on them. I'm quite scared of fakes in the market. Has anyone here dealt with them and if so could you share your experience?thanks
