MB&F HM2 Black & Red SV Final Edition Watches
The MB&F Horological Machine Number 2 has enjoyed a really rich life. The 'wrist rectangle' is now going into its final limited edition production with two new models. These are the HM2 Black SV and Red SV. "SV" stands for Sapphire Vision, and are related to the original HM2 Sapphire Vision watch that I discussed here - and had a real-life image of here. The whole point of the Sapphire Vision watch was the massive sapphire crystal that made up the front plate of the piece. The crystals were ungodly expensive to make and a tortuous trial in patience as many would break in the manufacturing process. One you make the crystal and it is stable, they are relatively strong, but the weakness is in making them. Now MB&F revisits the SV concept with these two new, slightly more showy models. I am not going to go into full technical specs about the piece - because I have already done that, and they are below. aquanaut questions
Hey all,I have recently been looking into the aquanaut.the retail price is manageable but I was curious if ADs discount patek sport models at all? I have purchased many watches from my AD so I have a good standing relationship with them but wasnt sure if asking for a discount on a patek sport model is laughable?? Secondly, how durable of a time piece is this? I like to hunt, fish and kayak along with other outdoor activities. Should you baby this piece or is it intended to take some abuse. Am I better off just getting an expii 42mm??
How many of us have been pushed "upmarket" into PM models because of SS scarcity?
I'm curious to know how many have decided to buy PM versions because the SS is simply impossible to get. I know this happened to me. Like everyone else, I wanted a 5711 in steel, but at some point the value proposition flipped when the practical cost of getting one skyrocketed. So I went with the rose gold version, and I'm happy with it.I'm starting to think the same way with the Daytona. Every time I visit my AD, the only ones in the case to even try on are the PM versions. So after putting the Platona on a number of times just to see how the Daytona looks on my wrist - guess what - I think I'm hooked...If this has been their strategy all along, to prop up demand for PM models, it appears to be working. On fools like me at least. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
