The gift giving season is upon us, and at least for myself, the biggest issue is always, "what should I get ____?!" Of course, the commercialized nature of the season imbibes us with the notion that our paramount motivation for the next few monthsis ardently selecting those gifts that, "they will remember/will mean something to them/will make them think fondly of me forever." Often times this task requires far more dedication and thought than is possible for busy people such as ourselves.Let me first proclaim that the prospect of successful gift giving would be an almost non-issue if money were not a question. Breitling has just introduced it's first totally inhouse chronograph movement, the B01. Omega Speedmaster 50 Christie's Auction
So, I am sure that most of you are aware of the December 15 auction to take place at Christies in NYC (.christies/salelanding...ntSaleID=25971 ). Of course, I fully understand that the die hard fans are worried that this type of sale will keep driving the prices up further, and thus will make more and more of these pieces out of our reach (i.e., the true fans who do not have unlimited means), but this is in my opinion a fact of life resulting from the general public having more and more access to expert information via blogs, forums etc. The people who were lucky enough to buy watches at a bargain price a few years/months ago should just feel that, LUCKY, and newcomers like myself will just keep hoping that the prices will remain reasonable for a bit longer and that true fans and enthusiasts will be able to enjoy nice pieces not only because they can simply afford them, but because they enjoy them for what they represent in terms of history and mechanical prowess in watchmaking. Sky Dweller dial question????
I saw a solid white gold Sky Dweller on bracelet that had the new blue stainless steel and white gold dial which in my opinion looks great!!!! I asked if it was a redial and was informed that Rolex accepts special orders for this combination for the solid gold models. Has anyone ever tried to order a piece like this? Does anyone else have a new dial on a solid gold piece? I really like the new stainless dials better but would rather have the solid gold watch. BestsAlex
