Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour
Hublot has introduced a new limited-edition watch for high-stakes poker players, the Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour. The watch adapts the Big Bang case with accents on the bezel for card players. Inside, it has Hublot’s manufacture column-wheel chronograph movement.? The Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour is 45.5 mm in diameter. It comes in two versions: one in stainless steel (shown here) and one in Hublot’s special 18-karat gold alloy with a higher-than-normal platinum content, known as “King Gold” (see below). Some sections of the case are polished while others are microblasted. This combination of finishes allows for the special design of the bezel. A spade, club, heart and diamond ornament its cardinal points.Through the skeletonized dial, one can see the inner workings of the Unico caliber. A four-hertz automatic flyback chronograph, the HUB 1242 Unico movement has a column wheel and double clutch that can be seen through the dial. It has a 72-hour po
To Wind or Not to Wind: Glycine Combat 6
This is the sixth generation of Glycine’s Combat series and for 2009, automatic and manual winding models are available. Both versions share a 43mm diameter case. The automatic, distinguished by the presence of a date function, uses an ETA 2824-2 movement, while an ETA 2801-2 powers the manual winder. Both versions offer a mineral glass display back. Both models are available on strap or bracelet, with black or blue dials, and with stick hour markers or Arabic numbers. Complete specs appear below the images. Evolution of the Ceramic GMT: A Lesson in Denying the Customer
I want to love the new Pepsi GMT. But I just don't. The colors aren't right and the jubilee bracelet isn't working for me (I know SOME like it). It seems Rolex likes to make watches that leave us wanting for something slightly different, something more. That way, we'll buy now, but then we'll still buy something else in the future to scratch an itch. Brilliant. In 2007, when the ceramic GMT came out in stainless steel with a black bezel, WISs started calling for a Coke or Pepsi in stainless steel. So, in 2013, Rolex obliged---by giving us a two-color bezel. Just not a Pepsi or Coke. Don't get me wrong. The BLNR is a looker, its a seller. But it left many still wanting a Pepsi or Coke. Then in 2014, Rolex gave us a Pepsi. But it was in white gold and the bezel colors received a lukewarm reception. However, some of us ponied up the big bucks for a precious metal watch when all we really wanted was a stainless steel Pepsi or Coke. Now, in 2018, some will buy the new stainless steel Pepsi on
